Comin' from New Orleans, my standards for what makes a place special are sky-high. We live and breathe good food, good music, and places with real character. A bar has to have a soul, you know? It can't just be four walls and some taps. So when I walked into The Lost Paddy Irish Pub, I had my critic's hat on tight. (Typically hate dining while traveling) And let me tell you, they didn't just meet my expectations; they blew them clean out of the water. First off, the vibe. This isn't some shiny, corporate "Irish-themed" restaurant. This is a proper pub. It's got that worn-in, comfortable feeling of a true locals' dive bar, the kind you'd find tucked away in the Marigny or Bywater where everybody knows your name by your second visit. It's dark, it's cozy, and it feels like it's been soaked in stories and good times for a hundred years. It felt like home. Now, the food. I ordered the Bangers and Mash, a dish that can be tragically bland if not done right. What was placed in front of me was a work of art. The bangers themselves were magnificent—perfectly grilled with a glorious snap and slight char, bursting with a savory, herbaceous flavor that was complex and deeply satisfying. The mash potatoes were the real deal—perfectly buttery and just lumpy enough to let you know they came from a real potatoes, not a box. The soul of the plate was that rich, dark onion gravy. And piled right on top of it all was a generous handful of crispy, crunchy onion strings, adding the perfect textural contrast to every soulful bite.
You can't have a great pub without a great bartender, and the lady working the bar (Heather) was nothing short of phenomenal. She was a maestro. She was pouring perfect pint after pint of Guinness with the patience of a saint for one person, cracking a jokes, and keeping pleasent convo with everyone all without missing a beat. She was making everyone feel welcome while running the bar with effortless style.
And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, the live music started. No cheesy cover band here. It was a couple of musicians playing some genuinely fantastic, foot-stomping music that filled the entire space with energy. It was the final, perfect ingredient. The Lost Paddy Irish Pub is the real deal. It’s a trifecta of incredible food, a warm and genuine atmosphere, and top-notch service and entertainment. I came in a skeptic, and I left...
Read moreLost Paddy Irish Pub is a great place to eat, socialize, enjoy authentic Irish food and great drinks from the bar. Big screen tvs show sporting events from all sporting genres ... soccer, basketball, football, baseball, and even women's softball and basketball.
My kids took me there on Mother's Day, and we enjoyed the decor and ambiance as well as the food. We ate Shepherds pie, Guinness beer soup, corned beef, onion rings, Ruben sandwich, and a Pub Sandwich that was listed as a small on the menu, but was large enough to feed all of us! Again, the food was delicious. I can't wait to return to try the Irish stew!
The kids ordered drinks from the bar, which included Smithwicks, Irish Mule, and an Irish whiskey drink. Everything was wonderful and seemed to be true Irish.
The only thing that we could have appreciated more was wait staff. You must order food and drinks from the bar. Food is delivered to your table, but you have to place all food and drink orders at the bar. The food and drinks are worth the effort!
We were there on a Sunday beginning around 6:00 ... the dinner time frame. After we received our meals, live music began. What a treat!! There was a three piece band who played various genres of music. The lead singer had a voice like melted butter. Mesmerizing. Good vocal range and covered the stars with definite talent.
We stayed a while longer than we originally had planned just to hear the music. To make our dining experience complete, we ordered fried cheesecake and ice cream and Heath Cake balls and ice cream. Wow! What a delight.
All in all, we really enjoyed the evening. Highly recommend this place whether you just want to have a drink and talk, relax, and especially if you want...
Read moreWe cheated on our usual Irish Pub because we were in the area and I’d heard great things about The Lost Paddy. Sadly, our experience was not great. We visited at 1:45 on 12/30. We seated ourselves at the bar and Quincey quickly took our order. We ordered the standard Irish dishes of fish and chips and shepherds pie. After waiting a good while for our food (we didn’t complain, Quincey noticed and said she was going to check on it) She came back and said it would be out soon. A few minutes later, another girl brought my husband’s shepherd’s pie. She said they had lost the ticket but they were cooking my fish and chips right then. 20 minutes later (and after my husband had eaten his entire entree) we checked once again on my food. They went to check and brought it to me. There is no way that the fish and chips they brought me was freshly cooked. It was lukewarm at best. Another thing I found very odd is that the entree came with about 2 splashes of malt vinegar in a little cup. I asked for more and she brought me another little cup of vinegar, slightly more than 2 splashes. Thankfully, I was able to spot a bottle on a shelf in the corner of the restaurant and helped myself to the bottle. The restaurant was also as terrible mess. Smeared food on the floor and no one bussed any tables until right before we left. One family bussed a table on their own so they’d have a place to sit. On a positive note, my husband enjoyed the shepherd’s pie and the bartender was working as absolutely hard as she could, managing a long line and many demands with grace. She was in no way responsible for the fiasco we just experienced. I’m hoping it was just an “off” day for them but our experience was very...
