Bought a used Lexus about 6 months ago. Enjoyed the initial test drive and then my wife took the car to the Lexus dealership where she paid $180 for them to "inspect" it and say it was in remarkably great shape, which gave us the confidence to buy it from Dixie. The salesman from Dixie went with her and talked about how he's good friends with the good folks at the Lexus dealership...should have been a red flag to us. Four months later, we begin hearing a grinding sound from the rear passenger wheel and take it to Lexus, since they did the inspection initially and were told how solid it was. They put it up on the rack and tell us that there's a significant amount of rust on the underside of the car that's very concerning AND the grinding sound we're hearing is from the parking brake, which is almost no longer in existence because of the amount of rust. They also informed us that the shield on the passenger side rear wheel was completely missing. When I pushed the dealership about why these issues weren't raised when we paid them to do the inspection, they said "that's not something that typically gets looked at...sorry." They also charged us $120 to identify the problem that they should have told us about originally. My only assumption is that the dealership knew that they would get the repair work business if they gave the car a clean bill of health and didn't undermine the sale...which makes sense now why the car had been on the lot at Dixie for such a long time. And if the sales man at Dixie is such good friends with his buddies at the dealership, then that muddies the waters even more.
As for the purchasing process, it seemed like everything was going smoothly until the end when I went to get in the car with the keys to drive off and noticed that the temporary paper floor mats were still in the car. I mentioned it to the salesman who said "ooh...didn't we tell you?!? The old mats were in such bad shape that there was no way to salvage them." I asked if they could find me some floor mats from one of their other Lexus vehicles and they said they would look around to see what they could find in a day or two. When I called back to get an update, the sales man said "I know you can find some replacement mats on eBay for $75 bucks." When I complained that this was something that should have been clearly disclosed prior to the day I'm picking up the car, he offered to "chip in $50" towards some new floor mats. So I had a nice Lexus with some amazing paper temporary mats for about 2 weeks while I had to wait for the actual factory-spec mats to arrive, which cost about $200. All of a sudden I realized I had been duped and the guy I worked with was nothing but a back-slapping, plaid jacket-wearing, fast talker.
I just had another shop take a look at the car today to inspect everything and my total for repairs will come out to about $2600 ($1400 less than Lexus dealership!) due to components that have been affected by the rust and other crap that was never disclosed, despite the inspection. I'll never deal with Dixie again and will never deal with the Lexus dealership again in Nashville...I don't trust...
Read moreIf you're reading about Dixie Motors, there's a chance you're a car person like me. If you are a car person, you know a car a not just a mode of transportation. It's way, way, more. Dixie Motors is a dealership for people who are passionate about cars.
I just bought my SECOND car from Dixie (see prior review below) and my experience this time was even more remarkable. I recently found my absolute dream car on the Dixie Motors' website--a 2006 Porsche 911 Cabriolet, with a manual transmission-- after looking at about 200+ car listings on sites like Carvana, eBay, etc.
I found the car on Dixie's website on a Friday evening, so I texted Ronnie Logan at Dixie to ask about the car. Mr. Logan responded within ten minutes. We talked about the car a few different times and by Saturday I had placed a deposit on the car.
But then, it got sticky on my end (work, bank, family) and it took me several weeks until I could get things finalized, and then travel down to Nashville (I live 200 miles away) to finish the deal and buy the car. Dixie waited for me. Dixie could've sold my car that first weekend, without any problem, but Mr. Logan kept my car for me while I worked it out. The level of service I have received from Dixie Motors TWICE is beyond anything I've experienced anywhere else, and I've bought dozens of cars in my lifetime.
A few specific details: (1) price was never an issue-- the car was very fairly priced, and they were very fair on my trade in; (2) the car was in pristine condition, exactly as it appeared in Dixie's photographs, absolutely no surprises; and (3) Dixie cares about the little things. For example, the trunk release broke during Mr. Logan's final inspection of my car, before I arrived that night to pick it up. Mr. Logan told me the latch had broken and that he had already ordered a new part and had it shipped to my house. If he didn't live so far away, I'd invite Mr. Logan to Thanksgiving dinner. He's truly one of a kind.
I won't hesitate to buy from Dixie Motors again. And I still can't believe I own this car.

I recently bought a 2016 Mini Cooper S from Dixie Motors in Nashville. Although I live 300 miles away, I never hesitated to pursue and complete this purchase because, from my first inquiry, I was treated like I was Dixie's most important customer. The car I bought was on the low end of Dixie's inventory list-- Dixie sells some gorgeous high-end cars-- but I was treated like I was buying a Bentley instead of a Mini. The car was spotless, the price was below market, and the process was easy and low pressure. I made the decision on my timeline. Ronnie Logan, the Sales Manager, dealt with me directly. The whole process was a breeze from start to finish. Despite living in another state, I will not hesitate to make the trip back to Nashville for another great deal. Dixie Motors is a fantastic dealership. Special thanks to Ronnie for his great...
Read moreI saw an ad for a Ford Mustang listed as a classified ad by this company on the internet. I called about the Mustang and spoke with Pat Stidham about purchasing the car. I live in Texas and he made the car sound soooo clean that I decided to take my daughter with me and drive 11 hours to buy it for my soon to be 16 year old son.
Pat and I spoke several times on the phone and I asked him the questions I needed answered before committing to such a long drive. He lied about several things. Upon arriving at Dixie Motors I did an inspection of the car. The windshield was cracked. During our previous conversations he told me there was nothing wrong with the car. He never mentioned the broken windshield. His excuse was that people drive by the lot and shoot the cars. He offered to drop $100 off the price for the windshield. I also noticed a large crack in the rear of the car that was never mentioned during our conversations. When asked about it he shrugged and said "it's a used car man". The next thing I saw is that he had installed a set of cheap chrome hubcaps over the wheels of the car to make it look like chrome rims. They looked great in the pictures. This really ticked me off because I specifically asked him before making the drive if they were real chrome wheels or caps. He told me unequivocally that they were chrome wheels not hubcap covers. I told him that would have been a deal killer for me and he could have saved me the drive (1500 miles roundtrip) and his response was, "maybe you can find some on Facebook or something". He then said "I ain't buying you no #$%&^ rims"!
We left and made the drive back to Texas without the car. He made no attempt to make any of this right other than a $100 credit for the windshield. Keep in mind a new windshield costs much more than $100. The price he and I agreed on was at the top of the NADA retail range but I was okay with it because my son is a great kid and Pat made the car look fantastic in pictures and he made it sound great during our conversations. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with buying a car. This guy has absolutely no morals in my opinion based on the way he treated me during this deal. He's probably laughing about it now. We just arrived back home after driving nearly 24 hours in 2 days. I think I'll just stay in Texas and shop. Pat has burned me out on going very far to buy a car. If only he had been honest it would have saved me the drive and hundreds in gas. I hope and pray the same thing doesn't happen to...
