bb.q Chicken National City — Restaurant in National City

This place has a really different vibe. I came in expecting it to be a fast casual eatery, but as soon as we arrived we were seated. There was a register area like any fast food place but apparently that's only used for to-go orders. The staff were super friendly and helped us look over the menu since this was the first time we were there. Definitely come at lunch time if you want to get a deal on this delicious chicken. The variety of sauce options was off the charts. Most places only have usually three or four flavors to choose from and this place had more than 10. My wife and I tried the honey garlic chicken and the Galbi chicken. We will definitely be coming back because we got to try all those options. One thing to be on the lookout is that ordering ranch sauce is not free. We didn't realize that until the end of the meal and that was a little annoying. I really did love the atmosphere there. It was clean and simple but I only gave it four stars because there was a bit of a chemical smell. They probably had just recently cleaned but it lingered throughout the meal. Our server Consuelo was really nice And she was helping us in every situation while also taking care of all that's our goal orders. It was impressive to watch. It's almost 1am and I am still up and awake and horribly sick to my stomach from the garbage I ate there tonight. God only knows what they put in my food or what the hell was in my food that they served me tonight. I was there about 5pm on Saturday 4/19. I ordered the $9.99 chicken and rice bowl as advertised on the front door . It had an egg, steamed rice and I think they put some kind of white sauce across the top of the chicken. It was only 5 chicken mcnugget- looking pieces, very small, strewn across steamed rice and one fried egg. The nauseu I have been experimenting since I left that restaurant is hideous. I cannot sleep and I can't throw it up. It's just sitting there and causing incredible havoc in my stomach. I may go to the emergency room in the morning if it doesn't let up. I'll provide an update later. Either the chicken was bad, the egg or that disgusting white sauce. I just looked at the other reviews for this place and there is one with the same problem as mine from TWO years ago. Something is up! I wish I had checked the reviews before I decided...

The food is amazing, but the service and atmosphere are lacking. I went in at 11:30 today for my very first visit and mentioned this to the woman at the counter. I ordered a small piece of boneless wings and a side; she did not mention the lunch specials at all. By the time I realized they had some, she had already finalized my order and refused to let me change it. I'm not sure if she just didn't know how to do that.

Additionally, waiting in the lobby was uncomfortable because it was really hot. While I was ordering, she was doing some prep work at the front counter, and the smell of the radishes almost made me lose...
