We travel to enjoy different ice cream and creamery's. We've been to this Handles location in National City many times. We got the cashier that looked like he enjoyed being there the least. We ordered 3- small dish ice creams. 2 were exact in the amount and 1 looked skimped (this has happened a few times before too). Since it was for my son and he was paying, I asked if he could please add a little more to make it look like the other ones. He said "No, I gave the same amount." I said, "Well it clearly looks significantly smaller." He said, "No, it's the same. Do you want a bag?" First of all it took every fiber in my son to not want to reach across the counter and shake him, just because of his mannerism the entire transaction. Second of all, someone should teach this kid a little customer service etiquette. It would have cost you nothing but a second of your paid time to put a little extra in the cup to satisfy a customers experience. Instead, you cost your employer to lose a customer, and likely many many many more (we have a large family & are well known), because I will share my experience and encourage others to take their business elsewhere. Ice cream is good sure, but LOTs of places have good ice cream. Customer service is EVERYTHING!!! I suggest North Park Creamery. The owners scoop the ice cream themselves, and are more that happy to leave a...

Have I not given Handel's a review after visiting them several times already??? Wow. Shame on me!!

Baskin 31, you have your competition right here with Handel's 49 delicious, crazy flavors.

I remember going to a Chamber of Commerce meeting in San Diego and meeting a representative who was looking to break into San Diego. I specifically mentioned opening up a shop in National City for its tax status location since there would be local competition already established and the cost is much lower than prime San Diego. I also mentioned that if Handel's opened another more North where people have plenty of disposable income, obviously, it would pay for itself.

To my surprise, we drove by this area, and I hear 6-7 months ago, Handel's opened up shop in National City.

If you want enjoyable flavors, and Real made ice cream, not fake stuff, here's an amazing place to go. It is very popular, even into the latter evening. Both young and more mature will enjoy. Perfect for the summer! ☀️ 🍦 🍨 🍦 🍨 Ice cream never tasted so good!

Eat on a bench inside or tables outside!

Here's a few pics. We've visited several times with the family. Definitely a continued...

45 minute minite wait for mediocre ice cream. Taste no different than the five-dollar tubs at the store. There's always only two or three young girls working, no manager no real adults.... And a line all the way to the door I feel like it's done on purpose to make it look like it's super busy when really they're just super slow, understaffed and MOST IMPORTANTLY, THEY DON'T HAVE CHAIRS OR ANYWHERE INSIDE ONE BENCH ALL THE WAY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORE IN THE CORNER.... They don't even want you to be there just get in and get out but they're going to take their sweet time getting you their mediocre product, that's advertise like it's one of a kind special made ice cream.... It's not they don't even have unique flavors just like they don't have the audacity to treat you like a customer and give you a seed or like they don't care about your time to make you wait forever for...

What ice cream shop doesn’t give samples to its many unique flavors? This one. Don’t know what taro tastes like? Or “blue monster”, buckeye, coconut caramel delight? Too bad. Get ready to play ice cream Russian roulette here, because they don’t do samples. I had the taro and coconut caramel delight. Both were cloyingly sweet. I couldn’t finish them. My mom had strawberry. She says the haagen daaz strawberry is better. At least that has chunks of strawberries in it. Not this one. No. I say save your money and go to Thrifty’s. Their ice cream is way better. And you can try samples to decide which you like.
