Venya’s Kitchen is Nederland’s first and only Indian restaurant! The inside is quaint and clean, and the servers were friendly.
I ordered the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, goat vindaloo, and vegetable samosa. You can choose the spice level, and because my boyfriend’s spice tolerance is in the negatives, we got mild (the lowest) for all the dishes. The dishes were well portioned, and each dish comes with a big bowl of rice. We only got three main dishes for four people, and I think it was perfect.
The butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were creamy, and the flavor seeped through the chicken. The goat vindaloo was my favorite. It was spicier, had hints of a limey flavor, and comes with potatoes. The samosas were also good and crispy and came with two sauces, one sweet and one savory, to dip in. They also gave us two masalas chais, which I believe came with the samosas but not sure. I also got the mago lassi, and it tasted like a creamy mango smoothie.
Overall, I think this is solid and pretty good Indian food, especially...
Read moreWe had a very poor experience at this restaurant. We placed our order at 9:20 PM, but it took nearly 50 minutes to get the food, which is unacceptable — especially considering the restaurant wasn’t busy.
We ordered goat curry, biryani, and garlic naan. Unfortunately, none of them met even basic expectations. The biryani was clearly not authentic — it looked and tasted like plain basmati rice mixed with curry, not a real biryani. The goat curry was bland, oily, and tasted like it had been reheated rather than freshly made.
What was most disappointing was the garlic naan — it was clearly frozen naan that had just been microwaved or reheated. No freshness, no texture — just rubbery and tasteless.
Overall, this was a bad experience. Poor taste, low-quality food, long wait times, and nothing felt freshly made. Definitely not recommending this...
Read moreWe ordered the butter chicken and chicken biriyani to go. I LOVED the butter chicken but was not a fan of the biriyani (just personal preference, it was way too spicy with too much seasoning even though I ordered mild). We also got the samosa with tea, and it was to die for. I ordered chicken samosa, but they gave me vegetable. I'm kinda glad for the mistake because it was delicious.
They were super busy and are still new with a few kinks to work out, but I'm excited to eat here again. Still no naan yet, can't wait until they get some! The gentleman at the front was SO sweet and brought our food out to me as my impatient toddler would not have waited well inside lol. So glad to have something local that...
