Okay so it's 4 o'clock on a Sunday and me and my gf just spent the day at bradley beach. 5 and a half hours to be exact. So before making the hour ride home we figured we'd stop at kellys and get food having been there before with the family. We were even goin to bring Reubens home for our parents. We both walked in and the first thing asked was if we both had our ID's. What is kellys tavern a club all of the sudden. I came for the food not to get drunk at 4 o'clock on a sunday. The doorman then told me it's up to my server if she would give me a beer or not since my gf is 19 turning 20 and I'm 23. So when the waitress came we both ordered waters to start, thought about what to order and when she came back we told her what we wanted and that I also wanted a budweiser. This is when the waitress said the doorman said this is a dry table. I was confused by this bc the doorman told me it was up to the waitress/waiter. So I approached the doorman and said "didn't you say it's up to the waitress if I could have a drink or not" and he got aggregated and immediately said no your a dry table! Your cut off! So I said excuse me? Cut off? I didn't even have a drink yet. And he proceeded to go on a say that we'll based on your eyes it looks like you've had a few. This is when I lost it. I'm burnt like a lobster and been in the sun all day and your going to say I was drinking? Extremley rude and poor way to greet someone as a doorman. Maybe " would you like to sit outside or inside would be a good place to start. Not....ID's please. Let's just say I won't be going back to kellys and I am currently enjoying great Italian fare at Vic's...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible. We were hosting a repass for a family member who passed away. The restaurant has a banquet room in the basement that hosts probably close to 60 or 70 people. We had about that number of people show up for this event. The restaurant was woefully unprepared, With only two servers who are also bartenders serving 60 people. There was no set menu or pre-planning involved, so all of the food took more than an hour to arrive at the tables. It’s not the servers fault but the managements fault for not being prepared to seat a 60 seat room. When I said something to another person who I assumed was also a manager, he said the room was only booked for 25 to 30 people. As a restaurant that seats probably close to three or 400 people, are you telling me that you’re not prepared for multiple parties and tables to come in at once and service them? It also doesn’t seem appropriate to receive the response I got from the person I spoke to considering the circumstances. This place is trash and I will...
Read moreKelly’s, it’s time to break up. I’ve always loved and championed this place, but it’s unfortunately become a dive bar with (now expensive)dive bar food. The menu used to be huge, but got seriously pared down during Covid. I guess we’re still in Covid-mode because the menu is still limited, but prices have skyrocketed. My favorite go-to has always been the grilled boneless wings(I always order and extra to-go) and steamers. We had family in town who were looking for steamers, and I was like “I know the perfect place!”. Well, no steamers. Fine, no problem, I had another trick up my sleeves. Grilled boneless wings (seriously you guys should trademark that). We went back to the hotel $250 later to break the takeout order out and alas, bone-in. I still love the memory of you, so I’m still giving you a three, but our next visit won’t be until we start seeing reviews proving that you’ve taken heed of...
