Me and the wife love blue claw crabs and tis the season. It was a Thurday and I had no plans. We go to Asbury and Ocean Grove often and have passed this this market often where I see the sign saying Blue Crabs. I decided to take the hour drive to buy a dozen big buys to steam that night. What a mistake. I've been catching and buying crabs for 45 years and know the difference between what a #1 size crab and a #2 since is. First off they were asking $50 for a dozen big guys, the most I've ever paid. The Market was clean and had a nice selection. I asked for a dozen #1's and told the guy. Please, for $50 I want big ones. He bagged up the crabs. The also had a nice selection of ready to bake clams. I bought a dozen@ $15. When I get home and dump the crabs in ice water I can clearly see the crabs were small. The legal size to harvest crabs in N.J. is 4 1/2" I took out a tape measure and started measuring them. They were all 5" to 5 1/2". Clearly not # 1's. I called to complain and spoke to Dave who starts telling me I haven't received any complaints and how different distributors grade differently. Then he says I can bring them back. Yah, I'm get in my car and spend 2 hours driving back and forth. I paid $50 for crabs that should be half that price. Finally he says give me your name and the next time your here I'll take care of you. I give him credit for that. Then I pull the bag of clams out to bake and the shells are the size of cherry stones. They should be little necks. We have the clams first. Clams? The shell was full of seasoned bread crumbs. Clams Oreganato? Another $15 rip off! Dave, I appreciate your offer to take care of me, but I'll never spend my...
Read moreThe people were pleasant enough, however, the food was atrocious. I was actually shocked they had so much business considering how bad most of our food was. I went with my friend and we got a 1/2 dozen oysters on the half shell, hush puppies, soft shell crab sandwich, Maine lobster roll, lobster bisque, Lobster Mac and cheese, and New England clam chowder. The soups were decent however I read a review stating that the lobster bisque was the best they ever had and it’s truly far from the best either of us have had. The sandwiches were also mediocre, the lobster in the lobster roll was rubbery and flavorless and overall tasted mostly of red bell pepper and the soft shell crab sandwich was too salty. The oysters were very bad my friend had one and had to chuck out the rest because it was so abysmal, the same goes for the Mac and cheese, the lobster on top was rubbery and bitter and the Mac underneath was cold, not even remotely cheesy, and tasted like it had been boiled in dirty dishwater and we had to throw it out after a few bites. The hush puppies were the only good thing about the meal. Overall, none of the fish tasted fresh, most of it not even good enough to eat. My friend and I are not ones to waste food but we couldn’t stomach it. Their good reviews and booming business left us bewildered and upset for wasting so much money on such bad food. If you’ve ever had good seafood I...
Read moreWent in to place an order. The girl at the counter very not polite in the least to say! While waiting to order she burns her hand with soup. She then begins taking my order, then the owner jumps at the desk with the worst attitude than hers and decides to take the order with no customer service skills at all. So when i get back to work of course I am missing food. I call back to inquire and he sez " I didn't charge you anyway for it" Really! And then he goes to say he is busy and can not talk! Real customer service! My take is your food is terrible. Your store is filled with flies and you should be out of business! Truely Jody's has gone to the trash. I work in the area and you can believe I will tell everyone not use this store. Are you prejudice or are you just stupid to disrespect a customer like this! I will NEVER us you again and use all media to tell the work keep...
