Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen — Restaurant in Neptune Township

Tried to convince my girlfriend Popeyes was the best place to go for fried chicken. I have had it many times from other locations but nothing prepared me for the pitfalls of coming to the Neptune location on a recent Saturday afternoon.

When we walked in there were people in line who were unable to order. Something about the cashier wasn't able to take specific credit cards or cash orders. We went ahead of another couple in line simply because my girlfriend had her debit card. The couple who had to stand to the side apparently only had cash.

We had a difficult time ordering as the gentleman at the cashier had a thick Indian accent that was difficult to understand. Apparently, it was difficult for him to understand us as well as we had to repeat our orders to him many times over. We wanted the 5-piece chicken meal for $12.99 but somehow he translated that into a 12-piece meal for over $20. We also wanted to purchase an extra chicken breast.

Because he could not properly understand what we wanted, he had to re-ring the order up several times. We walked away with primarily what we ordered but he forgot to give us the extra chicken breast.

The chicken was "okay." It was the sides that were just really unimpressive. They came in these tiny containers with mere spoonfuls of content inside. The macaroni and cheese, which is a side that gets charged extra, was not very good and the portion spooned in the container was as minuscule as the other sides.

For what our meal cost and what we got was abysmal. I could have gone to Shop Rite, gotten many more pieces of chicken and nicely portioned sides from the deli for either the same price or less. And, really, chicken from this location didn't really seem to be as good as I had remembered it.

I may try my luck at another Popeye's location in the future, but I certainly won't be back...

I used to like Popeyes in Neptune but now the food is very very different they had a cook named Moe and another cook I cannot remember his name he worked that night but they were the best cooks they took their time with the chicken and they gave it to you the way you like it but now these people that cook their they aren't even cordial with you they don't say hi they and no one in the store ever 😊 smile and the biggest thing is that the turkeys this year they have no information on when and where it's time to order the turkeys what's going on Popeyes in Neptune you used to be good now you falling off what's going on Mike check out your workers Mike they're not friendly at all and they always seemed as though they having attitude although I would like to give Darren his props because he is the best worker you have right now because the rest of them they act like we have to buy the nasty chicken they cook pump up your volume Popeyes you used to be a great restaurant and now you're turning into the nasty Popeyes, and I would like to add every time I go in there to eat and they never have clean tables and the bathrooms bathrooms are never clean and they never have any paper towels and they never have soap in the soap dispensers what the hell is going on with the Popeyes we used to know when you had that crew with Valerie h 00 now you have none of that crew there and the crew you have now they really suck except for Darren I'm not sure if the night cook is still there but if he is you better keep him close to you because these people that cook they don't know how to cook Popeye's Chicken 🍗🐔 get it together Popeyes used to be a 10, now it is a rating...

Every time I’ve ordered food from this establishment, it’s prepared or has been prepared in a timely manner and hasn’t sat for long periods of time under a heat lamp. The server is always pleasant. 😍 THIS POPEYES located in Neptune is DELICIOUS! Highly recommend. 😋 🤩

However, don’t judge all Popeyes as having the same quality of food handling.

🚨— The Popeyes at the Freehold Mall, Freehold, NJ is terrible! The chicken was inferior, seemed old as the bones were dried out which told me the chicken definitely had been sitting under a heat lamp for “ages.” 🤢 💸 🙁 If what I ordered is not readily available, I would rather wait for my order to be freshly made rather than have it given to me quickly because it was prepared much earlier and had been sitting under a heat lamp. Quality is more important to me. I will NEVER buy from Freehold again. Sadly disappointed at the Popeyes location at the 🚫 Freehold Mall . 👎

Though the Mall is closer for me, but I will drive the extra distance to purchase chicken dinner from Neptune’s Popeyes. 👍👍 “I ❤️ my chicken from [Neptune’s]...
