Overall it is a decent place to eat. The man who takes orders is nice and makes sure he got the order correct and asks if want something to drink when you dine in.
The day my friend and I decided to finally try this restaurant, there was no dine-in customers seated but a line of customers for take-out. This got me thinking that this place must have top notch food.
When our food was brought out to the table it was plated beautiful and it was correct. Food was just warm, you really couldn't feel heat coming off of it. The food was edible, it tasted like they made it let it set under a heat lamp for 50 mins before bringing to us. The rice had to be eaten with a spoon since it was....fluffy and dry plus it wouldn't stay on forks. Would love to see them try it with chop sticks, one piece of rice at a time.
I would have said something to the waitress about the temperature of the food when it was brought to us, unfortunately she was gone as fast as she appeared and never even got a chance to bink. Next time we saw her is when she brought the check.
My friend was going to up to where you order to let them know about our food was served warm and tasted almost like leftovers, when we ordered hot fresh food. I said go ahead but I have to now, I can't wait another 30 mins+ for them remake to everything because my sugar levels were getting dangerously low.
When we went to pay, I let the gentleman know how our dinners were and neither of us were happy with the food served. He apologized and said please come again and we make it better for you.
I believe there are 3 Chinese restaurants located in New Castle. Great Wall, China Banquet, and Golden Wok.
Great Wall - oldest with lowest ratings China Banquet - mid with average ratings Golden Wok - newest - highest ratings
I'll never eat at Golden Wok again. I like my food hot and fresh. Not tasting like it was cooked yesterday and heated up today. Some people may love leftover Chinese food but the only thing I'll eat leftover from Chinese is the rice.
The Great Wall and China Banquet has excellent food, especially the Banquet. Both serve hot fresh food to were if you don't watch, you will burn your mouth. I'd rather have to blow on my food too cool it down then eat warm and by the time I'm done...
Read moreThe food was amazing! I haven't stopped there in a while because I just haven't gotten out much but I had almost forgotten how incredible the food is. Best Chinese food I've ever had anywhere. Not to mention so much of it! One dinner feeds at least 2 people and there are still usually leftovers. The "General Tso's chicken" is Out of this world delicious and the Spring rolls are light and crispy and hot. The food is served piping hot and it is done so quickly that it's really convenient to stop there on your way home from work. I definitely over ate, But it was worth it and I was hungry a few hours later anyway when I finished the rest of my portion. The employees are very friendly, respectful And always tell me that they are happy to see me and never fail to invite me back again. I will make sure to not stay away so long this time. Since my new years resolution was to eat healthier, I know this place has always been a huge help when trying to eat healthy. The vegetables are not mushy and overcooked and the steamed rice is a great choice for those who are trying to watch their salt intake. The menu is so diverse you could probably eat there every day and never have the same meal all year however I'm a creature of habit and almost always get the chicken fried rice Spring rolls and general says chicken and on occasion the vegetable Stir fry and the pork fried rice And chicken on a stick. But whatever you have, It is always done to perfection and served with a smile. Check out the golden walk you will not be disappointed I absolutely...
Read moreBest Chinese restaurant in New Castle PA. I know, every review says that about every Chinese joint. Take my word for it, Golden Wok more than holds its own here. Nothing off-menu here. I mean, you can say add an egg to the fried rice, or no water chestnuts in the veggies. But no squid or octopus. The basics. Beef chicken pork and shrimp. Vegan and vegetarian friendly too. A great menu. Really good appetizers. And they do have some nice appetizers. I like the shrimp toast, it’s hard to find that anywhere. And it is sooo good. Mostly to-go, but that’s not because it’s one of those plaza places with lousy decor. It’s actually nice to sit inside and get waited on, if you want your food really hot. Oh, and CASH ONLY! Bring $20 if it’s just you. Bring $40 if you’re...
