<3 BEST <3 Mexican Tex/Mex Restaurant I have had the pleasure of eating at. Okay After an exhausting shopping experience at New Albany's Walmart Super Center my lovely wife Pauline and I decided to try El Agave Mexican Grill for the first time .Ayyy caramba good decision lol.Our waiter was friendly and quickly took and got our beverage selections ( pepsi's). We shared an order of fiesta fries which were unbelievably excellent . Fries smothered with colby jack cheese, BACON !!! , fresh pico de gallo .YUM YUM. Pauline had the ground beef taco salad made exactly to her specifications . No other restaurant has gotten that as right as rain as these El Agave caballeros did. I had the stuffed potato fajita . stuffed with shrimp , chicken and steak that were seared to a beautifully . The meats and the shrimp were so very flavor filled Flavor Flave would have been jealous . As I said earlier " BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER EATEN IN !!!!" If I could I'd give it 7 stars but they only let me dole out 5 stars.

Ick. I’m guessing maybe we caught them on the wrong day, because reading all these reviews, I thought they would be fantastic. We liked nothing here. Even the water tasted bad. Like dirty. Worst salsa I’ve ever tasted, hands down. It was blended down into a complete liquid. Which would have been fine, had it been flavorful. It was super bland. Like tomato water. These folks need to look into some cilantro or something, dang. I had the taco salad. It came out and had about two inches of liquid in the bottom of it. No idea. I pierced the shell so some of it would run out, but it ended up being like a soup consistency. And it wasn’t great, even if that wasn’t the case. My companion had the actual soup; also not great. The cheese dip was not bad. If you’re on the fence, go to Hacienda next door. It’s fantastic.

I had not eaten here in a while. The shrimp chimichanga and the special quesadilla had pieces of shrimp cut up. There was no queso on either one. The shrimp quesadilla was tiny as is. I guess that’s why they don’t even use whole shrimp. The first basket of chips they brought was mainly little broken up pieces. We ordered the bbq nachos as well. The waiter said shrimp nachos, and we said no bbq. They still brought shrimp out instead. When we told him, the waiter said well you told me shrimp, which we did not. We ended up having to buy a small queso to have any on our chimichanga and the special quesadilla. Next time it will be Costa for me. The tiny pieces of cut up shrimp and no queso ruined it for me. This used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant around. Not anymore.

My wife and i order to go before i go to work. Today 5/19/2019 i ordered a steak chimichanga and she ordered a nacho supreme without chicken and the chips on the side because she didn't want them soggy when she ate them. So the order was 19.08. We got home to find she has no cheese sauce on the nachos and no chips. Let's all be mindful i can't just go back because it's now time for work. Also we have two cups of appetizer dip and one bag of chips. So for 19.08 i expect to get what i paid for. Am i suppose to tell my wife you know what just eat the appetizer and eat your nachos without cheese and chips, or go down to the fridge make cheese sauce and look for tortilla chips. This is unacceptable but i assume since they have a buffet, the buffet customers come first (sarcastically speaking). This order should have included cheese sauce because nachos are not nachos without cheese they are scrambled beef on chips but wait without chips too what exactly would one call that. I call it utter disrespect and if anything an apologetic free correct meal but who am i to suggest complementary meals; just another two of their few to...

The food was very good, and the staff polite. Went there on a lunch break. Our orders were taken promptly, and delivered to us in a timely manner.

The only complaint I have is that one of our orders was not recorded properly, leading to the wrong dish being delivered. This was explained to the server, who went back to the kitchen, after which the manager came and apologized. Ten minutes later, the server returned—with the same incorrect dish he'd brought the first time. He was told that it was wrong, again, and again told what was ordered to begin with. He went back to the kitchen, and the manager returned to apologize yet again. A menu had to be used to show what was ordered.

The correct meal was finally brought out, but by this time the lunch break was pretty much over, and it had to be taken to go.

They were polite and apologetic...
