My wife and I had heard good things about La Fogata. We were there last Sunday night. They were not busy. Our server was also the bartender.

We ordered a pitcher of frozen strawberry margarita's. It was very, very sweet and syrupy, and not frozen at all. In hindsight it was obviously not made correctly. We should have sent it back.

The chips are not good. Even a small amount of salt on them would have helped a lot. The salsa was interesting, but on those bland chips, just not tasty at all.

There was some type of issue with our order arriving at our table. A couple that came in well after us got their food before we got ours. It also took a long time for the food to come out, especially surprising since it wasn't busy.

My wife's shrimp street taco's were mostly bland. I had a barbacoa burrito, supposed to have rice and beans in it, with cheese. No beans in it. The meat tasted fine, but overall this was a bland burrito.

There were ants on our table! They appeared one or two at a time as we sat there, 6 or 7 total during our visit.

Lastly there was some cleaning going on a few tables away. It was not simply bussing tables for other guests. Sweeping, cleaning the tables and chairs, even under the tables. The cleanser being used was not great to smell while we ate. We didn't appreciate someone doing that type cleaning during our meal.

We wanted to like it, and I hate to post a bad review for a newer business. It just wasn't very good, and there are so many choices for mexican food. We...

Was excited to try this place, so went on a Sunday with my Mom around 2pm. We didn't want a full meal so just split a queso and then each got one taco. The restaurant is very colorful inside, almost a little over the top. Very loud music coming from a speaker right above our table. They were also apparently doing some renovation work still cause it sounded like a loud jackhammer coming from the kitchen area several times while we were there.

The salsa was not that great, we didn't eat much of it. The queso came in a little bowl, half full, for $7 and it wasn't very warm. The basket of chips wasn't very full and when we asked for more they never brought them. My Mom got the shredded chicken taco and I got the steak. They came on plates with so much lettuce, onion and cheese that you couldn't pick them up to eat them. We had to eat with a knife and fork. My steak one had a lot of pieces of grilled chicken in it, which I noticed right away and asked the waiter and he said something like "well things get mixed together when they make things". The problem with SO many cold toppings is that it made the meat under cold. So the tacos tasted cold.

We will not be returning. If a place can't get salsa, queso and a basic taco right then there are plenty of other local Mexican places I would prefer. I don't think this place will last long. Our waiter wasn't attentive at all, after asking for chips that never came we didn't see him for a while and had to sit and wait for probably 10 min...

Talk about disappointment!! I was so excited about trying this place, I understand they are new but some things are just beyond that excuse. First our order was messed up, no biggie, I wanted one carnitas taco but they gave me a combo, I had ordered 3 single items and got the combo plus my two, figured I'll just have leftovers for tomorrow. I love most anything from a Mexican restaurant. Took a bite of my tostada and crunched on an egg shell..just asked to take it back and off my bill(still trying to figure out how that happens though). No manager or anyone came to apologize or anything. The rice was bland, absolutely no flavor, the beans were underwhelming and the carnitas which is a favorite of mine was not good at all. Best part was the homemade tortillas. Salsa was ok as well. Food took awhile to come out and we were 1 of 2 tables in the whole place. Never brought a bill, had to ask to add dessert after some time of not being checked on. When we finally did pay I just handed my credit card without my bill because we had been there over an hour at this point. Brings me back my card and says it wasn't working. Im thinking declined or a bank issue but after checking it wasn't on my end. Come to find out there system wasn't working. So I had to leave and go get cash and come back. I am a very patient person and I usually hate leaving bad reviews unless I feel others need to know. I hope they can...

We went on a Friday night and were served quickly. It was my first time here and I became a fan. I ordered a pork quesadilla ( which I usually do not order) it came with a little salad. The salad is really just tiny bits of tomatoes and shredded lettuce and some mozzarella cheese fresh mozzarella cheese and the lettuce is so fresh and the tomatoes are so fresh. It was wonderful with the quesadilla. The quesadilla had delicious pork and cheese in it. My husband had the wet burrito with pork which came with a lot of queso over the top. And we both dipped chips in the sides with plenty of cheese to spare. I was very impressed with the freshness of the food and the service. I will definitely be back.

The restaurant is very clean and colorful inside and out, with ample parking available in a freshly redone lot. The service was fast and friendly with free chips and salsa provided. The server remained attentive throughout my meal. The portion sizes are large and the food is good although I did find the rice to not be especially flavorful and I also had to add some salt to my birria tacos, but other than that the flavors were spot on and did not leave me disappointed in the slightest. Prices were fair with my three birria tacos, chicken empanada, included sides, and drink running me $25.01 after tax before tip. I will definitely be returning.

Good restaurant...good food. I have found a new favorite dish...carne asada with fries! I ordered the steak asada...it was awesome...check out picture below. Two people could eat this dish...I had lots of leftovers. The horchata and pineapple waters are the best I have had here in Indiana. The restaurant is in the old Applebees, in front of Wal-Mart...there's plenty of parking, the restaurant is very clean and looks festive. Give them a try...it really is good food and the portions are large...plenty to take home for later🙂
