Tallahatchie Gourmet — Restaurant in New Albany

We’ve been a few times and it average. Not many options in New Albany. I know everyone has a bad day but today was a bad one for our server and the kitchen apparently. My spouse had catfish and a Long Island tea, both of which was good. They were to sub the slaw for salad, which came out after the fish (only because we asked for it) and was charged full price for salad, not sub for slaw. The tea was good. I got the tomato basil soup and suppose to be just a grilled cheese. They brought out the kids grilled cheese plate which had a plate full of cold fries. The soup tasted more like tomato gravy than a tomato basil soup. Not much flavor except tomato and definitely not worth $6 for a cup. I assumed there might be an up charge for the salad and soup (instead of fries) but the server didn’t mention it when we ordered. The bartender and another server checked on us more than our server did. It was just not a very pleasant night. We spent right at $62. We waited over an hour for our food!! Nobody ever came to check on us, get a refill, explain the wait....nothing! We had to ask why it was taking so long because my kids were hungry and tired of sitting there. Was told the "grill was backed up" when others were getting their food who came in long after us. Burgers were the only thing we had from the "grill" which was a griddle at best. Kids ordered fish and shrimp and grits. Fish was the only thing any of us enjoyed. After waiting all that time, they had the order wrong for one of the burgers and there was a short black hair on the plate!! The ticket was way over priced when we received it and it did not match the online menu prices at all! Food was just meh....burger meat was flavorless, fries were soggy, shrimp and grits was one of the worst we've had. This place was NOT gourmet except for the prices!! We try to stop by this place while traveling through the area. They opened at 11 this morning. We were 2nd customer in the door this morning. Placed our order very quickly cuz we were traveling and needed a quick nice stop. Several other customers came in. We ordered a club sandwich and chicken salad on greens. How long should that take? After 30 minutes of waiting i asked waitress to check on order. Came back with , "just a few minutes ". After another 10 minutes and everyone else being served their lunch , who by the way came in 15 to 20 minutes later than us, we asked to pay for our tea cuz we had to leave. Only then did they bring one of our items out. We refused it and left. This has happened twice to us at the restaurant. Sad because the food is very good!
