Gulf Coast Butcher Shop & Grill — Restaurant in New Albany

Me and hubby went on a Thursday, we decided to try it, as it’s new. Background: I’m a server and he’s a bartender and has over 20 years of serving under his belt, keep this in mind. So there were maybe 7 or 8 tables sat and like 4 servers (okay that’s a lot of servers place isn’t busy AT ALL lol) the atmosphere was friendly and inviting for the most part. Our server (forgot her name) I don’t know if she was new or not but didn’t fill up husbands drink the whole time and waited forever for her to check on our table didn’t check with us when we got our appetizer and ate it not to see if it was good or not. We got the chicken salad it was good. We waited a heavy amount of time for our food compared to most restaurants maybe they are still working out the kinks? If it was busy I’d totally understand the wait but it wasn’t. At. All. (smash burger, bowl of gumbo, and kids shrimp w fries) she told us our food would be out shortly. Food was okay, not phenomenal, not extraordinary, (are y’all getting paid for these reviews??) just okay the shrimps I think were hand breaded so that was the only better than okay thing we’ve tried.

My wife and I tried this for the first time last night. We had the fried pickles ( because they were out of the other two or three appetizers we had originally ordered) They looked great, but was so overly breaded and hard we both had a very hard time eating them. It was a sandwich stacker type of pickle, so you was left with friend breading to dip in the ranch. We ordered two of the"reds" boils and a side of potato salad. The potato salad was a whole, unscathed potato. The waitress saw hers lift a potato when she pulled her fork up and she did replace the side. However, we ened up waiting about an hour and thirty minutes. It was not busy at all. The potatoes in the boil was like a rock and not edible. The shrimp smelled so good, but had no flavor. We donated $70 and went to The Warehouse. We also saw another couple there who had been sitting while we was. Another family left also because the food was too hard to eat. IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS, I WOULD. Our experience at this restaurant on Saturday was horrible. First, they were out of the red shrimp pictured in their listing. They were also out of salad. The carbonation was off on their soft drinks so my Coke tasted awful. The ribeye special was just ok. It was tender, but very thin and the flavor was so so. Before we left, the restaurant started filling up with smoke. They said their kitchen vent fan wasn't working correctly. After we left, everyone in my group got sick.
