Stopped in with another couple after attending the Water Fires in Providence. The time was about 10:15 to 10:30 on a Saturday and we wanted to have a coffee, drink, expresso, and a desert to finish off the night with friends. We passed on having it in Providence to be closer to home and figured why no support are local establishments.
Upon arrival we noticed patrons seated outside enjoying the evening air while engaged in social conversations and enjoying a drink. Looked like just what we were looking for. We entered the establishment through the outside seating area eventually making our way into the bar area. We encountered a male, later realizing it was the owner, and ask if we could sit outside for a coffee, drink, and dessert. He responded with a standoff flat response, "The outside is closed." It wasn't a rude response but rather one that implied he was ready to close or was done dealing with customers. This should've of been a clue to us to leave, try another location up the road, and in the future to remain in Providence where the night life was welcoming.
We decided to over look his less then welcoming attitude and place an order of drinks and desert. Several coffee's, a couple drinks, while rounded off with a desert or two we sat at a table in the bar listening to the live music. The music was entertaining to say the least and made us laugh amongst each other. While waiting for the order at the bar the owner never once cracked a smile or had any warm comments to offer, but held a look of disgust frozen on his face. It almost felt as if he was waiting on the peasants, which should never be the attitude one has for any customer, rather than a valued one. He made a Cappuccino and instead of getting a spoon designed for the coffee when he noticed the spoons had run out at the bar, he grabbed a soup spoon and gave that instead. The spoon nearly couldn't be seen if you dropped it into the cup. He never was clear on how he was filling the order. I'd receive a couple things and not told anything else until I ask for one of the desserts. In a condescending response he tells me I'm all set. I explained I was waiting on the dessert and when he realized it wasn't brought out he told me to sit down and it would be brought out. It was the tone and facial expression of his response that spoke volumes. Basically he expressed himself in manner that he didn't want to deal with a group at this time of the night for a late night drink. He just wanted to close up and finish off the guests for the night.
Not a place I'd consider to round off your night after 10 o'clock. You may run into the owner who doesn't want to...
Read moreIf I could give no stars I would, literally there was nothing good about it. Starting with the hostess telling me not to worry about the people that were there waiting first. To the many tables around us that ate meals desserts and after dinner drinks within the hour we waited for just our dinners. We waited an hour with empty glasses waiting for another round before our dinner. We ordered the ribeye special that was pure fat, gristle and veins, citrus caper butter sauce salmon that came plain with hard rice. We then had three meals served and one meal we waited another 10 minutes for. We were told that it wouldn’t fit on the food tray, but turns out the kitchen had burned the meal. The manager brought over the 4th meal (with the cold sides) and when we mentioned how we waited an hour he proceeded to say that “that it was a Saturday night and if we had gone to McDonalds we would have waited an hour for our food”. Needless to say we did not enjoy the cold undercooked meal and not a thing was done to correct the evening. I am not one to ever write a bad review, but I myself have been in the food industry for over 24 years and to see a place that I was super excited to try turn of this bad was completely...
