Endzone Restaurant and Bar — Restaurant in New Bedford

Very disappointed. Used to come here as a kid growing up and it used to be so great. It’s been a year and a half since I’ve gone due to countless food quality issues in the past. Raw/frozen fries, raw batter filled clam strips, missing food items, etc. last time I went, I came with a gift card from the owner because of issues I’d had 3 times in a row. Even that time, it was not good. Today being Mother’s Day, I decided to try one more time. Ordered clam strips and they didn’t tell me they didn’t have it on the menu anymore and I got bellies without knowing till I got home. I asked about New England clam chowder and they didn’t have it. It is what it is. My fiancés kale soup was good. My mom’s chicken nachos were overcooked. I asked for extra sour cream and we got none. I asked for a cheesecake slice with strawberries and got no strawberries. I said no tartar sauce and still got it. I haven’t left a poor review over the years because management has always been so responsive and nice. I called about the clam strips not being strips and the manager was very nice. Took it off the check along with the cheesecake. I was offered something else on menu but there’s nothing I want. Not really a great seafood menu. Would have got the habanero salmon but not into spicy food. Also didn’t feel like driving another 10-15 there then 10-15 back. I used to drive 30 minutes back in the day to come here because I loved it so much. Really disappointed. First off, the food is decent. It’s not spectacular or anything special, but decent. The restaurant is clean, the booths are roomy. We’ve been here 3 times. For some reason we’ve gotten the same server and she ruins the whole atmosphere. She’s always seems in a rush, even though there are several servers standing around up front. Other servers bring bread and oil to their tables, she’s never asked us if we wanted some. We don’t go in for appetizers, we get meals, so it’s weird that she doesn’t offer. She doesn’t offer or ask about refills on drinks, and to be honest, she acts like we are a bother. I tip very well, 20-30% depending on the service. So it’s not like we hadn’t tipped well the first 2 times. This last time we were there, unfortunately, was the last. It’s a little disappointing because it’s convenient, and they have ok food, but they don’t understand the concept that if you rely on tips, you have to have a good attitude and go beyond how you act outside of work. I left her 15% and that’s the end of my story on the End Zone. I’ve worked in restaurants for a good portion of my life, front end, back of house, the bar..I get if it’s busy or your new, but with servers standing around, it’s not that busy and clearly she’s not new. I've enjoyed coming here for great seafood for years. The baked stuff shrimp & fried clams are my favorites. Its always been amazing & delicious, & the Portugese selections are just as good. Dining in I would give a 4 star rating, but after my last visit I will never get an order to go again. I think it's every business' responsibility to be conscious of our environment. Changing from plastic & Styrofoam to paper should be a high priority. Styrofoam boxes are not earth friendly at all. It also makes sense since steam collects inside the Styrofoam box thats given to you wrapped in a plastic bag totally ruining the meal, leaving everything a soggy, wet mess-. Not edible at all. :( I ordered fish & chips @ aprox $15.00 & it was a total disappointment. I thought it was a little pricey but it was after 4pm. I'm not one to leave negative ratings, but as an established restaurant, they have the experience to know better.
