Gem of a place that apparently only opened a few months ago. They are a small family-owned business that truly puts their heart and souls into their food. You can tell they are still getting into the groove of things and they don't have posted prices, but they do change the menu every few days. This restaurant is takeout only and it can be tight to wait in line inside, but when we went it wasn't busy so we were helped immediately. I bet they will be successful in the long term. The woman at the counter was kind and the food delicious. We recommend the pernil, rice/beans, tostones, and sweet plantains!

First & last visit was on 2/14/24. My husband brought this home and I was shocked he paid for it based on the look alone. The fried pork was very very dry and not crispy at all. Zero flavor best describes our dishes, which is nothing like any Puerto Rican food I’ve ever tried. Arroz con gandules perhaps the most basic of dishes to get right was all wrong from the grain of rice to the lack of flavor. Went here based on the reviews but will not be back. Maybe this was an off day but I can not recommend a visit here.

OMG. Best food ever. Puerto Rican food from a family coming from Adjuntas Puerto Rico who have strived to bring to New Britain CT a real taste of Puerto Rico in taste, flavor is mouth watering. It’s indeed the best I have eaten in CT. If there’s a place to go to is right here.

The atmosphere is definitely latin in nature. I felt immediately comfortable walking in to start talking with the staff. The service was exceptional from the staff and everything explained in detail whenever I asked a question. The food. A... MA... ZING!!! In all my trips up to CT, my first latin experience with food here was absolutely delicious! The white rice was flavorful without the beans. The beans. AMAZING FLAVOR! Loved the flavor pairing so well with the white rice! The beef cubes and potatoes. PHENOMENAL! Probably the most tender cubes I have ever had and the potatoes so soft to match! Chef's Kiss! I also had some turkey stew. Never had that back home in South Jersey. Turkey so soft that it was like the beef cubes. It just melted in my mouth. Two thumbs up on that! I had a pizza empanada as well. A lot of filling within the empanada which was delicious. The potato ball was delicious as well. And finally I got some spicy wings. Fried just right with a golden brown color and the flavor had me in awe.

This spot is a must for anyone interested in Latin food and will not regret what they get to eat. If you are in the New Britain area close to CCSU, please stop in and grab so great Puerto Rican food!

Thank you BoriExpress! I look forward to coming back next year when...

This is my second time going here the food is good but their customer service needs improvement. I had ordered a medium portion of yellow rice and pernil I had two other customers in front of me who had hefty portions of rice and they also had medium meal containers. When I asked for a little bit of extra rice the worker behind the counter said it’d be 2$ extra even though I only wanted less than half a scoop I said it was fine because I’m obviously getting more than a half scoop, the worker proceeded to tell me that for 13$ I could’ve gotten a large portion when I asked her to just put the food in the container she has previously into a large one I would pay the extra, she said she would have to throw away the entire container and remake it. I have never heard of a Spanish place doing that especially if they’re on a moms n pops shop lvl. There wouldn’t be any type of cross contamination by putting food into a new container and throwing the old one out. I felt pressured into buying the smaller portions because I don’t like wasting food but it could’ve been a tatic she was playing I don’t know maybe that’s a little extra but it definitely turned the environment a little intimidating. For a less confusing experience I’ll stick with jalao, criollisimo,...

Today was my second visit for lunch. During my first visit, I ordered a small portion of sweet plantains with fried pork and was charged $12. I enjoyed the food, which is why I decided to return. However, on my second visit, I ordered the exact same thing and was shocked to be charged $16 for the same small order.

When I questioned the employee about the price difference, instead of offering an explanation, she became rude and dismissive. Not only did she refuse to acknowledge the inconsistency, but she also accused me of being rude simply for asking a question. To make matters worse, the employee outright refused to serve me.

This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable. As a paying customer, I expect transparency in pricing and basic respect when addressing a concern. The lack of professionalism, poor customer service, and inconsistent pricing have left a very bad impression. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone who values being treated with respect.

That said, I can’t wait for the Aquí Me Quedo restaurant to open up in Newington it’ll be closer for me, and I’m sure, like every other location, the customer service will be...
