The Hive Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in New Britain

TLDR; The Hive is brand new place to give Elmers competition. They’re still working out a few things but the food was good and I enjoyed my cocktail. Draft Special was great too.

The Hive Bar and Restaurant are new to the game when it comes to opening. I give them a lot of credit for opening during the COVID-19 pandemic and wish them the best of luck. I visited on a Thursday after a seeing social media posts about $2 draft beers and some other drink special. I wanted to check this place out with my significant other and a few friends. The draft beer special was a great way to attract newcomers. The Hive Bar and Restaurant has a LOT of potential with a beautiful bar and large area for dancing, although some kinks need to be worked out and I hope they see this and find a way to improve because I know they can provide some competition to their neighbors down the road. For starters, I know this is a brand new business opening but the walls could be decorated more that way the wall aren’t so bare. With time I can see management filling out the walls nicely. Secondly, my group of 3 arrived when it was quiet and during our visit it got quite busy near the bar around 10PM, my only concern was that it felt like we ignored because the bar had gotten so busy. We wanted to get our check so we could return home and it took a little longer than expected. However I cannot blame them for this mishap because it got busier than expected. I can’t make recommendations without giving my compliments to the establishment. Management was great, on several occasions our tables was approached to have a brief but enjoyable conversation. While we were given free chips and Mac & cheese bites as a curtesy, I can easily say I would have bought them no problem. The sides were enjoyable and a great addition to our drinks. Asides from the specials, I also had one of their listed cocktails (Hibiscus Daiquiri) and as someone whose built their own bar I can quite honestly say I enjoyed the drink very much. While the The Hive Bar and Restaurant have a few kinks to work out (Like the handheld devices) I see them as a welcome addition here in New Britain and I didn’t even touch upon the dance floor. I wish them the best of luck and look forward to returning...

So for anyone who doesn't know the Hive Bar has a beautiful Hall. They could accommodate weddings, parties and small events. Has a fireplace and a stage. We loved it for our daughters first birthday. The drinks were great and cheap. Don't know where else you can get a Moscow mile for as low as 7 dollars that isn't a happy hour. Nice space, great service and all. I wasn't too big on the food. The buttermilk chicken sandwich wasn't that good and the wings were nothing too special, great flavor in the mango...
