I Know You Know — Restaurant in New Britain

It was girls night, and we've decided to try something new. The concept of speakeasy spot is dope. "hidden bar" we were all excited to give it a try. There was a wait for over an hour, we decided to hit up another bar in the area, as they called us back for a table. When we got back, we were able to put in the pin to enter a room. It was a small room that just had a "bookcase door". Again, it was pretty cool, however I was a bit turned off when the hostess kept coming in and out of the bar, and we didn't get to experience the whole secret door concept. Now, we still decided to go in, there were people coming out saying "good luck if you want a table" seemed as if they were a bit disappointed before we even entered.

Finally when we walked in, I was immediately turned off when I it felt like it was 80°+ in the room. They had the fireplace going. There was zero ventilation. The spot was cozy. We sat down and literally left after 2mins. It was so warm/stuffy we couldn't enjoy ourselves. I just felt like we were in germ city. It could be a really dope spot, but maybe put the ac on, turn off the fireplace, leave that for colder nights.

I'd like to try again, but maybe not on a Friday night, and see how that works out.

I did want to say it was not packed when we entered, so for it to be that warm and not that busy, doesn't make sense. I'll give it some time to see if...

Honestly, was super disappointed about my experience tonight. Came to the speakeasy and there was 1.5hr wait. Added my name and did what they suggested, went to their sister restaurant The Assembly Room while we wait. We ended up eating. We got a call we had a table and when we got there, we were squished in a table that closed off a door. It was quite uncomfortable but the restaurant was crowded so we were happy to be there. After ordering one round of drinks we were asked if we wanted food. When we said we ate at their sister restaurant during our wait we were forced out of our table.. Told that we had to eat or leave. It had been 30min since we were sat. I understand its normal to reserve a 90min time per group but we were no where close to this. When we explained our situation to management (this is who told us to order or leave) he was not sympathetic at all. We left after ordering 3 drinks-- 45 dollars worth and will not be back. 1.5 hr wait earned us 30min inside. I can understand needing to turn over tables but this was bad business. Too bad... was really looking forward to patronizing....

I would like to start off by mentioning we had no wait. And as basic as the code entry is for a “speakeasy” - I appreciate any limiting on too many people coming into an establishment. The ambiance was relaxing and mellow. Beautiful seating arrangements. The drinks are strong… We tried 3 cocktails. While it is clear they have a full bar, we were surprised at the lack of variety on the cocktail menu (not a single vodka option - which is odd). Beautifully presented cocktails. Food menu has expanded since they opened. We got the sliders and they were good. Staff is friendly and helpful. It’s not in the right location. Especially for women at night. We personally don’t plan...
