Ok I decided to give them a try since I like checking out new places. Walked in place was clean and had a nice array of pastries and cake slices in display. The coffee expresso machine seemed state of the art. I will review what I actually had. I had the pumpernickel bagel with bacon egg and cheese. First the only good thing is the bagel. The bacon was cooked into the egg, and it was saltier than the sea. Had to literally scoop out that mixture and just eat the bagel by itself. Next letās move on to the pistachio backlava (not sure if spelled correctly) each tiny square piece and I mean tiny, is 2.50 so when I saw 9.95 for 4 small pieces I was like did I just get robbed. I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Like this must be the best tasting backlava ever made. Wish that were true. Nope!! Ok now to the mango smoothie. We all know itās made with ice and flavors and some type of liquid everyone uses different things but its foundation is ice. I asked for a thick mango smoothie. I have to be fair, I have asked for smoothies the same way at other places. Unfortunately this place missed that mark if you add more ice for thickness you cannot forget to add extra flavor shots or whatever. Basically took a few sips and threw it out. Spent close to $30 for a bacon egg and cheese on bagel, 4 tiny backlava square bite size pieces, an almond danish that I havenāt even tried yet, due to not wanting to admit to myself that I literally just threw $30 out the window, for a never again experience. This place missed the mark with the items I bought. Maybe the other stuff is better, I sure do not want to throw more money finding out. Spend with caution or with someone else is who is paying, that way you donāt throw...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time here, and walking into the Busy Bean there is a sense of walking into a posh coffee shop that could be located somewhere else besides downtown New Britain, CT. Nice music, nice scents, and average coffee. The large table in the middle of the main area doesn't exactly scream comfortable or cozy or even welcoming. It's all very nice, yes, but the Bougainvillea plants on either side of the door, in their large pots, are just sad and don't appear to be cared for. No small paper menus for anyone who has trouble seeing past the glare of the well-lit menu overhead. And when asked for one, the staff seem disconnected and unable or unwilling to assist without being prompted. Most of the sitting area in the back is "reserved" for groups, conferences, and students; but, again still not very comfortable or cozy looking. Overall, I am not impressed with this eatablishment and the average coffee especially after paying to park. This place would be better and make more money as a coffee cart...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately, I was treated very poorly at this place. I ordered a chocolate mocha and received a vanilla mocha instead. The woman making the coffee initially apologized and asked if I wanted a chocolate mocha. I told her I wanted to try something else, the strawberry mocha, since she had to make a new one. She frowned, twisted her face, and turned her back to me. I asked if something was wrong. She asked, "what and," as if she didnāt hear me, and ignored me for the rest of the time until she handed me my drink. The strawberry mocha tasted really bad, extremely bitter; I suspect she intentionally made it taste nasty. I looked at the two customers in line next to me, and they just shook their heads, watching the whole ordeal. I will never come here again. I don't go to places where the workers don't want to be there, hate their jobs, and dislike dealing...
