So, we saw pictures of Halal food and thought, oh this place looks good! Plates seem big with plenty of meat. Being halal is a plus. We get there, it's a small takeout setup with a couple of chairs. The older gentleman at the counter was Spanish and barely understood what we were saying. First, we had to ask him to come close to the counter so we can talk to him. He just stood there! So we went to get the platter with multiple meats, and he told us that the picture on the menu (the only paper copy) is wrong. They don't make that. So we ordered lamb kebab plates that come with rice and salad. See picture. We paid over $100 for 5 of these plates but they barely had any lamb. Looked like 1 or 2 skewers were divided into all plates. 3 pieces each with rice. The salad had so much vinegar, it burnt my throat. I coughed for several days. The rice was okay, with minimal flavor. But the lamb kebabs were burnt and hard. As if they were precooked and then microwaved for us. There was no point mentioning anything to the cook/server/clerk as he barely listened or understood and was the only one there. We came all the way from Manchester to try this place. We were so happy that there's another halal joint we can add to our list. But....
Read moreI'm sitting here right now having lunch for my second time and let me tell you, nothing like it that I've had since Ramis in Boston and Sababa in Las Vegas (both owned by the same family)
To be fair, I've only had the falafel, chicken shawarma, baba ghanouj and their hummus. Everything here is ridiculously good and so so so fresh. I'm at a loss for words honestly. It's hard to describe.
I've never eaten in Northern Africa or Israel or Lebanon or anywhere else in those regions but after eating here I just know it has to be the same. It brings me "back" to a place I've never been if that makes sense.
Everything from the owners to the prayers being played for Ramadan, it's just peaceful, beautiful and delicious.
Dalal just shared with me Katayef, a special desert she prepares during Ramadan. Of course on par with everything else I've had.
Food is the international language and they are fluent in putting their love into everything they make. I'm already thinking about what I'm going to get next time I come around. Thank you Madanis, once again you have set the tone for a beautiful rest of...
Read moreI have been here on 2 occasions, and I have to say that the quality of the food and service is very hit or miss. First time it was delicious and fresh. Second time, and most recently, not nearly as good and was very disappointing. Also, the woman who helps customers at the counter is very rude. Almost as rude as the man who answers the phone and yells at the customers. It should also be mentioned that the prices on their website are not accurate. Expect at least a 20-30% increase on all the items. Thought my meal total would be around $30 max, but ended up being close to $45. When I mentioned this, the woman at the front was very snotty and said "if you paid attention to the menu right in front of you then you'd see prices are subject to change, it says it right there." The food this time around was also disappointing. The chicken seemed a bit undercooked, the steak wayyyy over cooked, dry, and tough, and the falafel was dry as a bone. I don't think I'd return here as there are plenty of other places to bring business to that will appreciate their customers and provide better...
