My boyfriend and I love Ramen Nagomi's ramen, so when we noticed this new location opened we decided to go out for dinner. It's the first week of January and they haven't been open long plus Rutgers is out on holiday, so it wasn't busy (once the masses know about this place I'm sure that'll change).
We started with the Rutgers sushi roll. Very good. A larger roll with more pieces than usual for a special style roll. (yum) Perfect for sharing. Then for dinner I got the tonkotsu ramen and he got the miso crab ramen. They were both delicious. The tonkotsu had straight, smooth noodles and the miso had wavy noodles. Thin and just perfect. And they're homemade! You can watch as the ramen noodles are made from a window in the restaurant. Apparently it's made at night, so if you're having dinner around 7 or later (that's when we went) you may get to see the process.
They also have takeout ordering here.
10/10 recommend. Bring a sweater if you go out on a cold night. It gets chilly when...
Read moreMe and my partner ordered two bowls of ramen, a chicken karage don, and a kakuni Bao bun. The chicken karage don was unbearably dry, and the chicken itself tasted like it has been sitting in grease. The kakuni bao pork belly was also dry and lacked any flavor, it also barely had meat.
The two ramen bowls we ordered were the truffle butter and the spicy miso. Both has very tasty and rich broths. The noodles were too thin in my opinion, kinda reminiscent of instant ramen noodles. The pork belly slices on both of our bowls was mostly fat, which was flavorful but kinda disappointing as well.
Overall, the ramen was mediocre with the some good aspects. The sides were overpriced and disappointing. The service was also not very good, not that the server was rude, they were actually very nice. However, they would forget about our order, or give us the wrong things which caused a lot...
Read moreThe spicy miso Ramen bowl was almost all noodles and very little meat and vegetables. You only get about a pint of broth and this is for $21. By contrast, at Indochine on George Street downtown you get a quart of broth, bean sprouts, basil, chopped Pepper and a serious amount of chicken. The Ramen bowl here had a 2 inch long piece of pork belly that was nearly all fat. as far as dining is concerned, you can do that if you don’t mind listening to the staff in the back, yukking it up, extremely loudly with absolutely no concern for the dining experience of people sitting...
