We went there on November 11th to celebrate a significant anniversary of my wife's and I relationship, along with our daughter's turning 4-months-old. The server asked if the little one wanted a menu, and I said that the baby is little and she can't have food, adding joking that he can bring the "milk-only menu" for her. Next thing we know he brought some milk with a sippy cup, only for my wife to thank him & specify that our daughter can't have that kind of milk. I mean, c'mon, you work at a restaurant and you don't know that babies can't have cows milk before the age of 1? Later on, we see that he had charged us for the milk that we didn't touch. After appetizers, my wife went for a risotto as her main course, whereas I chose to have a ribeye steak, cooked medium-well. The steak was good, but part of it was too charred, so I only worked around the not-burnt part (about half of the 16oz steak). The server came and checked on us when we were almost done, and we told him about the issue. He explicitly said that the "cooks do charr the steaks sometimes", but he'd offer us a dessert. We chose a tiramisu. As we were talking about it, coincidentally one of the menagers, a lady, stopped by and asked how was everything. We told her that we liked almost everything but the steak that was cooked apparently on a high flame on the grill. She apologized and thanked us for the feedback, proceeding with asking us if she could pick up the check sitting on the table. My husband handed it to her along with his cc, without even seeing what they had charged us for, thinking that she could take care of something, but instead the waiter comes back only for us to figure out that they charged us for everything, the milk and the dessert. At that time it was too late to say anything. The whole interaction with both of them left us with a very bad taste. Very unprofessional, won't...

It's in the downstairs of the hotel with a view of the docks. There is a patio with a fireplace outside the windows. Some people were making Smores. Everything we ordered was good. I took pictures, then changed my memory card and lost everything. She had the ravioli, which she said was in an alfredo like sauce. She loved it. The tiramisu was the best I've ever had. I had the squid/octopus combo. This is the first time I have liked the grilled lemon that comes with seafood. Excellent! Our waitress was excellent. ‐------------------- Our second visit. Post covid- shutdown.

The menu was smaller, but our server was the best ever.

My plate of linguini and clams was basically a plate of clams with some linguini. The plate of empty clam shells was a full plate. It was excellent.

Her plate of ravioli was the best she had had. She skipped the three sauces and just got the marinara. We both cleaned our plates.

On both visits we sat at the same table, by the glass wall, next to the outdoor fire pit. A couple of guests were toasting marshmallows over the fire. It was great.

The tiramisu was just to her liking; I thought the coffee flavor was overwhelming.

We joked that they must be running out of bread. The first plate had 4 slices of bread wrapped in a napkin, and came with aplate of olive oil and grated cheese. The second plate had 3 slices on a bare plate with oil and cheese. The third plate was the same as the second. The fourth had two slices and no oil and cheese. Obviously the bread was great, but I decided, tho I could have eaten more, that I should probably stop ordering more bread. Boooooo.

All in all we enjoyed the evening thoroughly. Her favorite place to go, and one of mine (needs ribs and more beef on the menu). 😋😊

Pricey:...

Hands down the WORST service I've ever had at a restaurant. We sat for 15 minutes before I had to go up to the hostess stand and asked if we had a waitress we sat there for another 5 minutes while we watch 3 waitresses figured out who was going to take our table. So when the waitress did finally come over she already had an attitude because apparently she drew the short straw. She was rude inconsiderate and should never have a job in the service industry night. We saw her twice during the two and a half hours we were there she was insulting, condescending and an all around horrible person. The manager Wayne was very nice and tried to fix the damage that she had done but it was a little too late. The funniest part of all this was while we were waiting for our check to be discounted the table next to us was also now waiting for the same waitress for good 15 minutes in the hostess sat their party of 12 without 12 chairs...4 people were STANDING for 15 minutes with out somewhere to sit OR a waitress. Their party hadn't even gotten their first round of drinks yet and Wayne was already having to discount their non-existent bill. We were ready to drink and enjoy our night and instead we got one round of drinks and horrible service.

The food was very very good and if you don't mind being ignored, talk down to, or feel like you are an inconvenience to the wait staff then the food is...

Came here with my Dad last Sunday for a nice father-son dinner. The interior in here is lovely! It's not too bright, has some cool fireplaces and has a nice view of Lake Michigan if you get window seating. Our waiter was very nice and knew the menu well, and our appetizer and food came out in a reasonable amount of time. We started with the grilled octopus. That was fantastic, 9.2/10! Such excellent flavor and texture, Dad says it's the best octopus he's ever had! For my entree I got the special, which was shortribs with saffron risotto. That was delicious, and the short ribs were almost miraculously tender! I wish the sauce didn't overpower the saffron flavor though. I give it 8.8/10 And the dessert. I got tiramisu. The presentation was beautiful, but sadly, it was a disappointment. 6.0/10. The alcohol overpowered all the other flavors, if the texture wasn't nice it might be a 5.0/10 or lower. Then they give you complimentary little sugar cookies thing, which honestly were better than the tiramisu. Verdict: Would definitely return but might skip dessert next time.

Dining at The Terrace Room is an unforgettable experience. The waterfront views of New Buffalo Harbor provided a serene backdrop, especially when seated on the outdoor terrace. The ambiance inside is equally captivating, with rustic fireside seating that adds a touch of romance and warmth. The menu showcases authentic Italian cuisine crafted from locally sourced ingredients. The handmade pasta dishes were a highlight, bursting with flavor and freshness. Complementing the meal was a thoughtfully curated wine list and inventive cocktails, making each sip as delightful as each bite. Service was impeccable—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff ensured our evening went smoothly. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking a memorable dining experience, filled with exceptional dishes, and thoughtful design. The Terrace Room delivers on all fronts. I highly recommend making a reservation to secure a spot, especially during peak times. This hidden gem truly captures the essence of fine dining in a relaxed, picturesque setting.

We went for a night out with two other couples and really enjoyed this place. One need not navigate too far from the Appetizer and Charcuterie side of the menu to leave satisfied. Being a date night, we went all out. The seasonal "bruchetta" was a carmalized apple with cream cheese and pine nuts - unique and tasty. I had the gnocchi with a corn sauce (see attached photo). It is very time consuming to make gnocchi at home so this was well worth the $19. My wife had the Rigatoni and vodka sauce - for $24 (I think) it was a bit over-priced. Italian Sausage was a bit bland but not bad. One issue. They charge $60 to cancel a reservation if you don't do so within 2 days of your dinner. No problem, we were going regardless. Issue is - with that steep of a policy, there wasn't much in the way of parking. If you have family/friends who struggle with mobility, expect to park at least a block away. Overall - we will be back to try more seasonal and monthly specials!
