We’ve eaten here a few times and the food never disappoints. Service is usually always friendly…until today(!).
We arrived at 2.15 pm for a late lunch. As we entered the server immediately advised us they closed at 3 pm which we felt was a reasonable and important consideration for our pending meal. He sat us down and brought the menus and advised us that we needed to order “within 5 minutes”. Being mindful of the time we took a couple of minutes and called him back over to order. We ordered an appetizer and an entree to be told “ they will arrive together, you don’t have time to eat them separately as they take 20 minutes to cook”. We fully appreciated we only had 45 minutes but the constant reminder that we had to hurry was a little excessive accompanied by the slight “annoyance” shown by the server. At that point we decided to leave.
We will return as the food is just too good. But, be warned: don’t arrive less than an hour before they close as clearly it causes the team...
Read moreIn New Canaan, amongst the sea of coffee shops serving overpriced kale salads to the whitest women wearing sweaters over their shoulders and their children on-leashes, while their dogs are off-leashes, we found Curry Mango. Naturally because of the previously-mentioned whitle ladies that inhabit the area, there were barely any customers in the restaurant. Of which I was very grateful. We sat where we wanted, and proceeded to enjoy one of the most delicious meals my wife and I have ever had the pleasure of eating. A $15 lunch special that included an appetizer AND dessert? This place is too good to be true. The vindaloo is like being baptized in flavor and spice. It hurt so good. The tika masala was another flavor explosion, as was the lasooni Gobi (picture General Tso's cauliflower, to my people with the Caucasian persuasion) I hope nobody reads this review, so I can keep this hidden gem to myself. But truthfully, I won't be able to shut up about this place. So have at it!...
Read moreCurry Mango in New Canaan has quickly become one of my top go-to spots for Indian cuisine. The food is authentic, rich in flavor, beautifully plated, and clearly made with care. I’ve eaten at many Indian restaurants throughout Fairfield County, and this one easily ranks in my top 3.
A great baseline for me is always the samosas, and here, they were exceptional. Generous portion, perfectly seasoned filling, and the dough? Light, crisp, almost pastry-like in texture. Absolutely delicious.
Beyond the food, the staff is fantastic, warm, welcoming, and super knowledgeable. They’re great at walking you through the menu if you have questions or want recommendations.
And don’t sleep on the drinks, they’re mixologist-level quality. Each cocktail came out looking like something from a high-end bar, and they tasted just as good as they looked.
If you’re anywhere near New Canaan and in the mood for Indian, Curry Mango is a must-visit. This place is...
