If I could give 0 I truly would. This is not about the food. The food was amazing, the place is semi clean.... This about being discriminated against. I have gone to Spiga for years with friends, family. I have never had this issue anywhere. As soon as we are seated. I noticed myself and my friends water glass had lipstick on it... WE did not even touch it yet, before we could tell the waiter he proceeded to pour our sparkling water ( which you have to pay for ) in the dirty glass. Once we told him, he tried to make an excuse on why it was dirty then proceeded to pour the drink from the dirty glass into the clean one.... YUCK... We ordered a bottle of wine luckily right when we got our water. The waiter did not come back for about 15 minutes to take our order. ( it was not busy, Its a Weds night) Then finally he appeared and took our order. Our food came it was amazing like always. NEVER SAW the waiter again for about 45 minutes to at least an hour. Then We ask for our check. I grew up in a restaurant, I know what it is like to work on tips and I am not apologizing for tipping accordingly. I am very generous. The bill came. Me and my friend were still sipping wine. We tipped a good amount for the waiter to not even acknowledge us at all. He then proceeded to come back to the table and ask WHY WE DIDNT TIP HIM 10%. I almost died. I mean how dare you. So I was honest and advised that although the food was good his service was horrible. He then proceeded to stand there for about 5 minutes staring at us until I had to tell him to walk away he was making us uncomfortable and we would not be giving him more money. The waiter then told the other wait staff after being extremely offensive to me and my friend , which in turn all the staff turned to look directly at as and then took the wine bottle ( which was not done) and our drinks away, without letting us finish. NOT for nothing, I am extremely disappointed. Me and my friend are Spanish and not from New Canaan, I hate to say I doubt the waiter would go up to anyone else in the room and do something like that. It was extremely uncalled for and prejudice. How dare you ask for more money when you didn't even do the bare minimum. I am not ok at all and I think the Owner GINO would not appreciate loyal clients who spend over hundreds each dinner to be treated this way. I am appalled...
Read moreHave been here a few times over the past year and have always had great experiences, and really good food! Not the case this time. We arrived on time for a 6:30p reservation and specifically asked for a booth. We were taken to the rear of the restaurant, near the kitchen. This was not going to work, as we have sat in this area before, and it’s very very warm. They didn’t have a booth available, so we were taken to a table at the front, not a big deal. The waitress arrived a few minutes later to take our drink and app order and both drinks and apps arrived before 7. In the meantime we placed our dinner orders. 8p passes by around and while we have been waiting for our dinner, there were 2 couples that sat after us, finished their dinner and left. After speaking to our waitress, we were told that it would be another 20 minutes. We immediately spoke to the manager who instead of coming up with a solve for our problem, decided he wanted to argue it in the middle of the restaurant. He went to the waitress station and prints the order ticket and returns arguing that we just gave out order at 7:58p. This is obviously a mistake, and nit’s clear the waitress didn’t enter the order or forgot about it. This went back and fourth for a few minutes with Spiga management, and wait staff ultimately telling us, (the paying customer) that we were wrong. Needless to say, that will be our last experience in that establishment. As we were pulling out of the driveway, our waitress ran out and gave me the sunglasses that I left on the table. She obviously didn’t have to do that and I thought that was a nice gesture, especially after the back and forth we had inside.
Good luck to the Spiga team, hopefully you get this situation handled and get back to giving great experiences and...
Read moreChanging my review because of the rude attitude and the manager was “too busy” to understand. Do not order from Uber eats as they can take up to “whatever time” to pick the order up especially if they are busy. The prices are very elevated now. Her response of “I have people in front of you” and the tablet crashed so you can put your order back in now was a comment of they don’t need my business!! The owner might be apologetic but I would not have known if my order was cancelled if I didn’t check. So now my $142 order will go somewhere else as this place doesn’t seem to have much to say but “I’m sorry” and it’s my fault the tablet failed. It’s Uber’s and if you had any value to your customer service you would have offered me something instead of place it again and wait another hour after waiting 25 minutes in. A credit card does time stamps fyi
Our 1st time ordering and the food was amazing. I had the lobster Mac and cheese with the fresh bread crumb on top which was delicious and a good size. I had enough for 3 meals. Fresh and full of flavor! We also ordered the chicken parmigiana which was a decent portion, full of flavor but because we had it delivered it wasn’t hot but just warm so keep that in mind. The restaurant would do much better if they had their own delivery. The prices are a bit high for ordering delivery through door dash and add in extra delivery fees(15$) And service fees so keep that in mind when ordering through the service.
I would order again because the food was good but this is not a weekly...
