Great local bar vibe. Friendly patrons. Comfortable atmosphere, easy place to grab a beer and a meal. Bigger menu than I would have expected. Very reasonable prices. I had the gyros with a side of the sweet potatoe fries. Both were excellent! Esther, who was tending bar and effortlessly waiting tables, was delightful! Also worth noting... It was a warm evening so the front door was open near my table. When several customers went outside to smoke, I was thrilled that I could not smell it blowing back in. I'm not sure how the bar managed that, but thank you!!!!

Had a great experience at the Black Dog last Friday! I got the special burger for the evening with sweet potato fries, and I was not disappointed. I loved how the peanut sauce worked so well with the bacon jam on the burger, never would have that of that. The service was great, and the so were the drinks. I highly recommend the "Cool Shorts" cocktail. So refreshing with summer season coming. Will definitely be back!

Really happy we stumbled upon this place while visiting for the weekend. The bartender Barry was beyond amazing. He made great cocktails and checked in on us multiple times to make sure we were still doing good. Also the food is exceptional one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. I had the elk burger and it was cooked perfectly. All around great atmosphere, definitely stop in if your in the area!

This was a horrible experience. So much so that we left before ordering. Our glasses came out dirty. We asked for water while we looked for a drink and the blonde waitress that works on Wednesdays seemed irritated at our presence in her bar. She was far more interested in the men drinking at the bar, so much so that we might as well had not been there. I have a gluten allergy so i simply asked if there were any gluten free options, she said “no” as if I was making it up and walked away. No ciders. One of those people that don’t believe a gluten allergy is real. Most dismissive server I have ever seen. No ciders. No gluten free options. Dirty cups. I wish I could give zero stars. Apparently the new owners prioritize the beer over the food. Not even a dive bar, more of a place for creeps to drink beer. As long as it’s from the can or bottle; those...

Unfortunately this is not the Black Dog anymore. The Black Dog sold last winter and there are new owners. This is a review of the Black Bear which is the new name for the same location. The quality of the menu and service has declined greatly, there are no longer any vegetarian options on the menu. I really want to like this pub as we had so many great experiences at the Black Dog and there aren't many places in town to get a draft beer, but each time I've been there we have been disappointed. The gyro is good with plenty of veggies, and the fries are good. Nachos came in a basket, toppings only on top of a basket of...

I moved to the town (very temporary )where Black dog saloon is located . Has anyone heard of a bar that closes at 9 oclock . That 's 9 o'clock PM .!! I only go out and start my evenings at 10-11pm ! ( i was born and raised in NY ) But if u happen to ride thru this small town of NewCastle Co..and want to have a drink and something to eat in a typical little town bar atmosphere , this is the place The soft pretzels (2 big pretzels in an order) and a well made long island ice tea ,at the black dog saloon , are my go to . Just get there before 8:30 pm...
