El Centenario Cantina — Restaurant in New Haven

I saw a lady recommended this from TikTok so wanted to give it a try. Wow, I thought this was authentic Mexican food. We order a quesadilla $15.99 and steak soft tacos $15.99 the food had no taste how so ever felt washed no flavor too much raw soft tortillas, dry. It only had some cut up onion and cilantro dry, dry.. music too loud not even Mexican music the environment was dead some kids playing and very dead too much money for the food. The quesadilla only had saggy lettuce, onions and tomatoes the cheese tasted like Aldi cheese, oily, no seasoning, etc. The lady was polite. We spent $40 including the meal, a water bottle, kids milk and $5.00 tip. I will not recommend this place. The location is not the best location in New Haven. Also why will a restaurant have so much tinted windows. Sorry but good no good....

Margaritas were hitting! Service was good, but bartenders don’t speak good English. They were very nice and were able to get assistance when necessary. While I speak some Spanish I only feel comfortable ordering in English, so it was good someone could ensure my order to be correct. Did I mention the margaritas were on point and delicious. I had the Tacos, which come 4 and was able to get two different proteins. Can’t wait to go back...

As soon as we walked in this establishment, the vibes were very welcoming. We were waited on as soon as we sat down. Very intimate and small crowd. The menu was very limited so it wasn’t much to choose from. The food took a decent amount of time to come out. It wasn’t as good as I would have hoped.
