Would not do business with again. The food is sweet but the management isn't. on 2/14/20 at 1pm I called and placed an order for a cheesecake. The person I spoke with told me it would be ready for when I requested the pickup, which was 2/15/20 at 3pm. On 2/15/20 at 1pm, 2 hours before I was planning to pick up the cake I received a call and the shop told me they would be unable to fill my order. I kindly pointed out that it is 2 hours before my pickup and I placed my order yesterday. The woman responded saying, "she shouldn't have taken your order, she should know better" well ok that doesn't solve the problem. I said its bad business to notify me on such short notice. The woman then said, "yesterday was valentines day, things happen" I replied by asking if they were going to offer some type of credit or gift card. the woman said no. I ended up with no cheesecake for my valentines day celebration. So here is a free business 101 lesson. Create customers for life, don't lose them for life. If a business makes a promise to a customer you do everything in your power to keep it. If "something happens" then you do everything in your power to make it right. Read moreWe've only been here a few times, mostly on the occasion of picking up last-minute birthday cakes, but every single time we get a winner. It was my sister-in-laws birthday last week, and we'd procrastinated finding her a cake. She's 12 and we figured at worst, we'll go grab something at Stop and Shop. We decided to stop by Marjolaine's and at first, we were a little disappointed that there was only one cake in the display. Unassuming, white frosting with little flowers, cute but simple. We figured we'd give it a shot, and we were so glad we did. It was custard-filled and my husband could not stop talking about how delicious it was! This isn't the first time we've needed an "emergency" cake from here and it won't be the last, they're...
Read moreI have read some of the other reviews and find many speak of price. The prices, I feel, are within the norm for a European bakery. The tastes of the various baked goods are wonderful, but the croissant's texture is less then I expected. The texture was that of a delightful dinner roll not a delicately layered, flaky pastry. I do hope they resolve that problem, a French Patisserie requires absolute control of the temp. of the dough, the butter and the oven to make a proper croissant. The ambiance of the shop is quite nice with a lovely display of chocolates, tarts and cookies. It also allows the customers to view the bakers working in the back. I liked...
