August Moon, at 3635 Prytania Street in New Orleans. I went to have lunch on October 9, 2025. I dined in and ordered my food and when it arrived I noticed the plate I had was not clean. You can see the smudged of left overs maybe still stained on the plate. I said my grace and thought well the food still looks good and maybe I’m overthinking. I ordered a Hot Garlic Chicken with fried rice and a Cho-cho.  I bit the Cho-Cho once and the second time I saw a cockroach fall out with my meat and veggies. I took pictures, told the waiter and the owner and they just said, it’s ok you can leave and offered me a fortune cookie, that I declined. I left the restaurant, didn’t have to pay but my stomach started to feel queasy and I didn’t feel well. All I can see is this roach in my head that I almost ate or maybe did eat a leg or so. I didn’t even get an apology. I’ll never stop to eat there again. It’s a small restaurant, kinda like a whole in the wall spot. I also seen a roach on their outside window stuck between the card board sales sign and the window… it stayed there for days or maybe weeks and was finally removed. First red flag. I didn’t say anything then, but now I need to write this review so people can know, it’s a Shame they don’t keep their restaurant clean and tidy. It’s been reported too.

I've ordered take out from here a bunch of times and always thought it to be delicious. My first time dining in, and I'm impressed. Very clean, nice tables and chairs and decor. Our server was very polite and welcoming. It was a great meal. Tried something new, too. THE FOOD: Started with Chinese egg rolls, which I LOVE!!! The in-house hot mustard kicks butt! The heat just pops in your nose..love it. The egg rolls are fat and crispy and burst with flavors of cabbage and veggies and pork. I tried fried tofu for the first time. Very bland on its own, the sauce is also mild. Little slices of red and orange peppers don't add much. It was good the next day mixed with other leftovers. My entree was Kung pao beef. Disappointed because it was not spicy at all. Added some hot mustard to give it kick. The beef was tasty. My girlfriend had Sweet and sour chicken. Which was great. Chicken was moist and coating was good. She also had fried rice which is always good.

I visited here for dinner today and I will definitely be going back. The atmosphere of the place is cozy since it's not very big or brightly light, but you get a sense of upscale as well. The great artwork on the walls as well as the attention paid to the small details gives it a sort of fancy and craftsmanship feel. For example the crown molding covering the entire restaurant helps ties things together while the solid wood chairs and tables are much better for the aesthetic. I ordered the General Tao's chicken, with pork fried rice and Chinese egg rolls. Everything was delicious specially the chicken since it wasn't heavily breaded to give off the illusion of bigger portions, as some places do. I would bring a date here, have a lunch meeting, meet my parents for lunch, it's suitable for several occasions.

I have a seafood allergy. My girlfriend called to place our order and specifically asked if anything in our order had seafood due to seafood allergies. They stated the order contained no seafood. Order was delivered and after eating most of the egg roll, I see a shrimp inside it. Seafood. My girlfriend called the store in my place while I went to get Benadryl. When she explained that the individual who took our order claimed there was no seafood, they suggested they could delivery spring rolls our way. Too bad I was having an unexpected allergic reaction due to them not letting us know/remove the egg roll from the order, but hey :') My girlfriend told the staff that wasn't acceptable- she was transferred to someone else who made the exact same suggestion (we'll deliver some spring rolls y'all way.) She asked if we could get a refund- they wanted us to give the order back to them. I threw my order in the trash before going get Benadryl. Sadly, the delivery driver came back without us knowing or asking him to. He tried to give back his tip (thankfully, my girlfriend told him to keep as it was not his fault at all) but asked if the order would be refunded. He stated they were adamant about not giving us a refund without the meal being returned. My girlfriend asked if he could relay to the restaurant "you can have the order, but it will be the entire trash bag." She apologized to the driver being caught in the middle of this at all- he agreed the initial server messed up by not mentioning the shrimp in the egg roll after we specifically asked about seafood allergies.

I wouldn't have even been upset if they couldn't have offered a refund. It was the completely asinine "oh ok, we'll bring spring rolls" after the damage was already done. No apologies, no accountability. This wasn't just a messed up order- this straight up could have killed someone. Thankfully, I'm not severely allergic to seafood and also noticed the shrimp while eating- saved me a surprise ER visit, I guess.

Goofy as hell experience. Be real with people when they ask about common...

August Moon is New Orleans Westbank's most underrated Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant. Located off of Manhattan Blvd near the Expressway, this family style full blown menu will surprise patrons who have yet to venture here. Their restaurant even has a private room for parties and special events. The restaurant itself is pretty large and spacious which they keep clean. Walking in, a seafood tank can be seen to pick your meal and they'll cook it to your specifications. Lots of seats and tables for bigger groups and even booths for those on date night. Now to the food. The Bun Bo Hue is surprisingly legit. Probably one of the best in New Orleans period. And the Pho here is the only place my mom would eat. That says a lot since my mom is the toughest critic since she can cook it all. The broth is clean and savory. Lots of meats and veggies. Their fried tofu appetizer is crispy and flavorful making it a signature dish for most veteran foodies that come. The fried calamari holds it owns in which they add bell peppers making it a camera junkie snap away. The sautéed lobster with scallions and ginger is probably my favorite dish. It is cooked and flavored to perfection making my palate dance with each bite. My mouth is actually salivating thinking of the next time I'll be able to eat it again! If you're ever in the area, give it a try and...
