Delachaise is one of the more interesting venues to visit Uptown. It has been doing the same thing all of the new "Gastropubs" were doing years before anybody decided to call a bar serving semi-fancy food that silly name. The food is generally a bit pricey and ranges from average to very excellent with frequently changing items. They also offer several cheese plate selections that are very nice quality. The food seems to be more of a French Bistro style than what has been done at the other "Gastropub" incarnations.

They unfortunately don't offer Abita Amber but they generally do have some very good wine and some German beers that will satisfy me. The charm and curse of this place is the long and narrow architecture of the building that limits seating and allows it to easily get crowded. The bathroom situation really doesn't do well with crowds. Service can be slow when the bar is crowded and if I can't get a seat at the bar I just go elsewhere as I'm not waiting that long. The crowd is variable and some nights it is great and other nights I have no clue what alien planet landed their ship outside the bar and let their refugees out. It is certainly a good place to hang out if you can get I seat and I prefer the less...

The Delachaise has always been a staple of this area since I first started coming to the city. Now that I live near enough to walk to it I can say with certainty that it's as cool a place as it's ever been. The staff is chill and the selections are great. The food is pretty darn irresistable (just try to sit and not order (good fat) fries with extra (malt vinegar) aioli...), I definitely recommend the steamed Mussels, Fra Diavalo, they're probably the best I've ever had (I'm not usually a big fan of those).

Even tf you're not a wine afficionado, they have other things to slake your thirst but when you get a feel for the vibe of the place and the hospitality of their staff, you'll most likely be asking for a recommendation. Don't let the cool ambiance scare you off, pretentious it is not, and there's a reason it's been such a staple in the neighborhood all these years. The outside courtyard is nice, too, and even in the heavy heat of New Orleans you'll find it pairs well enough with an ice-chilled bottle of wine to even things out for ya.

BTW, the prices are...

Have been here multiple times. Great wine bar with a lot of outdoor and indoor seating with an eclectic vibe. Very large wine selection but also have a full bar and a large beer selection. This last time we were here the coolers were broken and the kegs empty so unfortunately they had absolutely no beer. Bartenders were a little gruff but nice and friendly, contradictory but true. We had several items from the menu and they were all good. The best was the charcuterie board. The deviled eggs were creamy and the salmon wasn’t overpowering. The steak bruschetta was good but had a little too much smoke flavor for me. The chicken wings are very very heavily breaded/battered which I really enjoyed but another person in my group didn’t like that. Definitely not your traditional wing but very good. We didn’t ask questions about the wines so I can’t comment on the knowledge of the servers, but I was able to taste a couple that I was interested in before choosing the one I wanted. This place is casual, comfortable and a must try. I really enjoyed it every...

Update: Sat at the bar on 06/09/25 as an anniversary celebration. The bartender, "The D" was cold. He made an oldfashioned without muddling the orange or the cherry. We dealt with it bc it is a wine bar nevertheless. Started with the oysters. They were decent but not mind blowing. Got the fish and chips and ribeye as entrees. Fish and chips were decent but the ribeye was overcooked. We asked for medium rare and got medium well at best. The bartender did not ask us how the food was so we dealt with it. We had to wave the bartender over anytime we wanted another drink. As far as your comment to my review, very childish coming from a business. Using an  abbreviated curse word and bringing my field of work into this? Also, what am I going to sue you for? Poor service and an overcooked steak? Watch the cameras back and maybe you would hear our dislike of the ribeye. As far as my to go box, my dog dealt with it for dinner. Sad to see such immaturity from what was once one of my favorite bars. Do better. Just don't get the ribeye

This place has a great location and I enjoyed hanging out there during Mardi Gras. However, our more recent visit was rather disappointing for a few reasons. - they didn’t have the Merlot that was on the menu, or any other Merlot. It shouldn’t be that hard to keep your menu updated. - the tomatoes in the caprese salad were partly GREEN. Tomatoes are in season right now so this is really unacceptable. -our other food order was the mussels & frites. I love the mussels but the frites were pretty soft and limp. But that was the better dish overall compared to the salad, especially value wise. You get a lot of food for the price.
