I've eaten and purchased wine at Martin's for years. I'm still sad they haven't reopened the deli Uptown again since Katrina but I still go to the Metairie location often to eat. They usually have multiple specials for lunch everyday. Over many years I think there was only one special I didn't like and it was due to just a bad and tough piece of meat that was a fluke. I have to say I did an experiment with eating the "Healthy" lunch option for 3 months and I actually gained weight so it is healthy in a New Orleans dining sense but not for the size of the belly :)
They always have a great selection of wine, beer, and liquor with some very knowledgeable people to assist you. They have an amazing deli counter with all sorts of tasty looking desserts and food choices. They also have an entirely separate deli counter for a selection of some great cheeses. They also have a great sandwich and salad selection. Martin's also has pretty good & large burger that they fresh grind (so expect to wait at least 20 minutes for it) and they usually have a different daily burger special during lunch. I also enjoy the Sunday brunch here with the only complaint that I've heard is that they usually don't have bloody Mary's.
The Metairie location has a decent size parking lot but it fills up fast around lunch. On really crowded days it can be hard to find a place to sit and they sometimes run out of silverware so there can be a bit of a wait. The best bet is to get there before the noon rush so you can enjoy yourself.

Maybe it was a fluke, tried it again.. Both times the staff was helpful and friendly. Management has made quite the change. Thank you for making changes for the better.
If you don’t look like the rich elite of NOLA don’t bother walking in, don’t give these people your hard earned money. The employees must make well over minimum wage to look down their noses at me and my net 6 figure a year manual labor job. The liquor guy literally said he’s waiting to see if his usual bourbon snobs want to buy a certain bottle before he could offer it to me. Ok thanks bud. I’ll go elsewhere. I’m in there weekly, I’ve bought thousands and thousands of dollars of your merchandise. I’ve even bought a bottle the liquor salesman wanted to try, opened it up in store and let him have a share, because I believe in treating people with kindness even if they are in a different tax bracket. This is the SAME gentlemen that told me he’s waiting for the bourbon snob to come in and see if he wants the bottle first. Those stupid bourbon resellers have ruined the purpose of liquor. I hope the ATF cleans house on all the stupid secondary bourbon market sellers that have turned enjoying a glass of something new into a scavenger hunt. Dear salesman: wouldn’t it be better to just say “no we don’t have that bottle”, than to have someone walking out of your store feeling less than...
Read moreHave been going here at least once a week since I discovered Martin's last Spring (2021). I had been looking for excellent egg salad sandwiches and they have them. Beautiful, clean, very modern place. Does not seem like New Orleans at all except for the huge quantities of liquor. This place is not cheap, but it is classy and very pleasant. Went there yesterday Saturday 10 February on Mardi Gras weekend. Absolutely the best of New Orleans. Crowded but filled with civilized people dressed up for the parades. Lots of cute girls wearing short skirts covered with sequins. It's basically an Uptown White crowd, but not stuffy or anything negative at all. I still.love their egg salads and got two pounds to go. Just like my late aunt "Sissy Mildred" used to make. Places like Martin's make New Orleans. ...
