I'm thrilled to share my exceptional experience at Boswell's Jamaican Grill in New Orleans, a hidden gem that has become my go-to spot for delicious and authentic Jamaican cuisine. As a vegetarian, I was a bit skeptical about trying a Caribbean restaurant, but I was blown away by the variety of options and the quality of the food.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and welcoming staff, who were happy to answer all my questions about the menu and make recommendations. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate, with a lively vibe that's perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner.

The menu at Boswell's Jamaican Grill is a love letter to Jamaican cuisine, with a wide variety of options that cater to all tastes and dietary needs. As a vegetarian, I was impressed by the number of options available, including delicious vegetable patties, flavorful curries, and hearty stews.

I opted for the vegetable patty, which was served with a side of rice and peas and a delicious mango salsa. The patty was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a flavorful blend of spices that was both aromatic and delicious. The rice and peas were perfectly cooked, and the mango salsa added a sweet and tangy touch to the dish.

I was also impressed by the portion sizes, which were generous and filling without being overwhelming. The prices were also very reasonable, making Boswell's Jamaican Grill a great value for the quality and quantity of food you receive.

What truly sets Boswell's Jamaican Grill apart, however, is its commitment to serving authentic and delicious Jamaican cuisine that is also respectful of vegetarian dietary restrictions. The owners are clearly passionate about their cuisine and their community, and it shows in every aspect of the restaurant.

I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail and the care that the staff took in preparing my meal. They were happy to answer all my questions and make recommendations, and they even offered to modify the dish to suit my dietary needs.

Overall, I would highly recommend Boswell's Jamaican Grill to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Jamaican meal in New Orleans. The restaurant is a true gem, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and a commitment to serving high-quality cuisine that is respectful of all dietary needs.

I love goat, so upon researching the reviews for Boswells it looked as though their curry goat plate would be a good choice. It ended up not being a good choice. Oddly it tasted the way a strong body soap would smell. Just to make sure it wasn't my taste buds being off I had my 3 friends who were with me try it, and they all agreed that it was not enjoyable or edible, that the flavor was similar to that of soap. I kindly went up to the older gentlemen behind the counter and showed him my uneaten plate, I let him know that maybe the cook had made some type of mistake with the ingredients for the day. That the plate had strong reviews online, but that day something must have been off. I was hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt. He just looked at me and my uneaten plate and said "okay". I then proceeded to throw the full $18 plate of food away in front of him. He just watched me and said nothing. I stayed with my friends talking at the table for another 30 minutes, not once did I hear an offer to get us another plate, a refund, that he had investigated what may have been the problem, nor an apology, the only thing he ever said to me was "okay". Any good business owner knows its better to lose a dollar than a customer. Customer service experience here is bogus. Not sure how a business owner feels taking someone's money for something they could not consume. Boswells lost 4 customers, my friends and I won't be back here. As for the rest of our order my friends all got the jerk chicken, they had no complaints but it wasn't to-die-for. I'm sure there are much more enjoyable and tasty jamaican restaurants in the city, and with much...

I called to place an order, a man answered the phone and said something, I assumed asking me to hold. However, I could still hear the phone faintly. After 5 minutes I said “hello” a few times, no response so I hung up. I saw GrubHub was offering a discount and ordered through there for pickup.

I ordered the brown stew chicken and oxtail with mac and cheese and rice and beans and a side of plantains.

I arrive before my food was ready, the gentleman at the counter said my food was not ready so I waited. About 10 minutes later he comes over with my food. I head to the car and open to eat it to realize there were no plantains. I went inside and asked. He said they were out, I asked for a refund, he said they don’t do refunds and to call GrubHub.

While eating I realized the side of steamed vegetables were the sub for the plantains except I was there and he could have asked what I wanted to replace the plantains. I would NOT pay $5 for steamed vegetables, which they decided they could just change my order. I also only received one SMALL piece of oxtail, barely any mac and cheese, the chicken was not tender.

The food is not nearly good enough to endure the awful customer...

An ok Jamaican spot. For whatever reason, Uber eats only gave me the option to order veggie patties w/coco bread, but not beef or chicken. We also ordered the escovitch fish and oxtails dinner with Mac, rice and peas, cabbage and callaloo. While nothing was bad, it wasn't great either, nor had any particular Caribbean flavor. The fish was probably the most flavorful, but dry. It was delivery but honestly it tastes frozen. The oxtails were well cooked and tender, but I make better(yes that's a brag). The plantains and drinks were good, I liked the ginger lemonade. The veggie pattie was particularly disappointing, mushy and greasy without any discernable flavor. They are close, I would try them again. Maybe I can get a spicy beef patty next time and it'll satisfy my craving like I wanted.

As someone who dated someone from Jamaica and lived in Brooklyn for years, I’ll share this: I’ve been coming to Bowell’s since it opened; however! the food and service is inconsistent, sometimes you’ll get pure rudeness with a tasty meal and / or kind service and bland food. They often run out of things on the menu. Since I know what true Jamaican food tastes like I’ll give this place an honest 2/3 out of 5 as of today* I also hope they aren’t selling the people of New Orleans short, under the impression we are from the south and they may think* we don’t know what Jamaican food and culture encompasses Expect to spend 20/50 for one of two people for a dish&drink and definitely don’t expect a large portion. 1 love
