Overpriced and Freezing!

I have been a couple of times and this was by far the worst. The precooked dishes were lovely; it was the bbq experience that was such a turnoff. We went with a total group of 8, and sat at the middle bbq table (I recommend not sitting there!!) on a Wednesday evening. It was a very cold day outside. Unfortunately, one of the vents was not working properly, so instead of being covered up, the hole was open to the environment, taking all the heat with it. While waiting for the raw meat (anytime the vent was on), the whole group stayed bundled up in our winter coats. It was probably 40deg at the table, and about the same outside.

Even though we ordered four plates of meat to bbq, we received only two banchan for the table. Nice, but a bit lacking. It would have been nice to get more of these, as they go well with the meat. Instead, we get a bit of food and everyone is ready and hungry, so it is all eaten quickly. When we get to the actual cooking experience, the server puts the entire 2 plates of meat on the grill without really consulting us. it was a challenge to cook everything evenly and serve the 3 people that were to be eating from it. Additionally, the bbq got cold almost immediately from the open vent next to the grill table. Unpleasant. In previous experience with Korean BBQ places, I habe been given a raw plate, utensils, and am allowed to put a couple of pieces on while deciding how much to put on. It was frustrating and rushed and definitely detracted from the taste of our meal.

Overall - The food is nice. I recommend you do not try to BBQ at this place as it isn't much of an experience if your server just dumps it on the grill for you. It would be much better to try another BBQ place for that experience of cooking. The other food, as mentioned is very yummy, and I do enjoy coming back. I would just stay in the warm tables and avoid the front, for sure, if cold.

I hate to rate something so poorly, but it was a miserable, pricey, and frustrating experience. And it wasn't fun or delicious. My food was cold, almost immediately after pulling it from the grill.

Additionally, they do a good job of mentioning it on the menu, but there is an additional 20% added for groups of 5 or more. And they do not split checks more...

I wish there was 7 stars. If you are in New Orleans and want some Korean food, this place is it!!! I lived in USA and have been to K-restaurants in many many places. Should I dare say it? This is the best authentic tasting Korean dishes ever. Each dish has its unique distinct taste that is authentic. You taste What your taste buds remember and expect. Would I return here? No, I live in LA, California where some argue that the Korean food there is better than the Korean food in Korea. Food in LA are good but the flavors now favor or cater the broad taste buds. It have evolved to a different type of Korean food. Also, this is one spot that serves up variety of food - Korean, some Korean-chinese, and Korean-lite dishes. I didn't try the bbq but that's because I wanted more of the individual dishes. Our group ended up having our last night dinner while we were vacationing and we ended up there for the next lunch so we can taste other dishes. None of the dishes disappointed anyone at the table and we all wow'd at every dish that we were served and every other bites. We wanted to try other dishes but we were too full to dare to stuff ourselves of anymore food. Those who have 1 star are misleading. The servers might have made a mistake and kitchen might have been slow in putting out the food and they might have had a bad day or they are just whiny folks. The food is no way 1. Just because you are Asian, you know Korean food. Someone who grew up with authentic tastes of K food and missed them, like me, found a super chefs (mom and dad) restaurant ran by a pretty daughter who was generous to come to the table to share how delightful...

My boyfriend and I, along with 3 other friends, came here for the experience of trying Korean BBQ. The food tasted pretty great and we all enjoyed many of the little side items that came with the meal. However, our waiter fell very short of being acceptable. He was inattentive, forgetful, and straight up inconsiderate.

We sat at the very front table where they had just replaced the grill on the side of me and my boyfriend. When our food was about to arrive, our waiter went to start our grill, but it seemed the propane connection wasn’t done properly and it refused to come on. He called a couple of other people over to try and get the grill started.

When that didn’t work, the waiter from another table, who had been working on our grill, asked if we would like a portable grill. Of course we said yes and assumed that it would be brought out.

We waited for about 15 minutes because our waiter had also mentioned bringing the grill. It was finally the other waiter who came and asked us again if we wanted to grill. He ended up bringing us our grill and apologized because he had thought our server was bringing it.

We only saw him twice more in the next 40 mins. I had to ask him to get water for my friend and I held up my glass to get a refill as well. He was right behind me and he just completely ignored it even when I tried to get his attention.

If I could, I’d rate the waiter a 0, but the restaurant...

It feels weird giving this place 3 stars as I had a nice time with tasty food. However, anyone that has gone to a korean bbq place will understand, this place is simply not worth it. The meats are nothing special and are just on par with every other kbbq place. Mind you, they are still very very tasty, but all kbbq meats are. This place gives you almost no banchan (side dishes) which normally are plentiful at any korean spot. Soju is crazy expensive here, a lot more than other places. The worst thing about this place are the prices. I can pay 21 dollars anywhere else for a seat at an all you can eat kbbq with the same quality meat this place had. Instead, here I paid 21 dollars for a singular plate of brisket. A measly 10-15 paper thin pieces of it. I have gotten more of this brisket when ordering at an all you can eat kbbq place for much much cheaper. I would not recommend anyone to go here. The kbbq spot in Metairie is much better. This place is still delicious, they just seem very skimpy with the free stuff and are very expensive. A single meat costs the same as a seat at an all you can eat kbbq for the SAME quality meat. I do not think anyone should go here.

To be honest, I did not expect much of authenticity in NOLA. I’ve seen countless mediocre Korean restaurants in many small and large cities in different states. I’ve tried other so called Korean restaurants in the different parts of NOLA. But to my great surprise, this place has done it well. I’m a Korean foodie who’s always in a search for a good cuisine. And I did not expect Little Korea BBQ to remotely even come close to Korean restaurants found in cities like Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta. But they surely provided and option for self grilling environment as well as excellent kitchen menus that were not attempts of Korean dishes. Many of the dishes that we have order had the authentic flavor. Not all, however, are considered the best that I’ve had, but it was good enough. When I asked to be spicy, it was spicy enough. Side dishes were authentic and replenished free of charge as it should be. So, there is my approval stamp💮. If this restaurant was in highly populated oriental Asian area, it may have receive 3 stars for few of less than good dishes (such as yaki udon). But for being where it is, I must give 5 stars for pioneering 정신.
