I took my wife here for a date this past Sunday, and we were very excited to see what it had to offer - my wife loves Crepes and we are always looking for new hole in the wall restaurants to try. We had been planning on doing this all week. We walked in around 10:30am, and shortly after walking up to the counter, we were greeted by seemingly the only employee in the restaurant, who was cooking crepes to order as we perused the menu at the counter. He told us up front it would be about a 30 minute wait. The restaurant was busy but there were multiple vacant tables both inside and out. The man was busy with cooking, which I can appreciate, as he was obviously coordinating this one man show to the best of his ability. There was very loud rock and roll music playing as he worked. He told us again that it would be about a 30 minute wait. No problem, we politely nodded in affirmation and perused the menu a few more minutes. He reiterated that it would be 30 minutes before food was ready, yet again no problem, we aren’t in a hurry, so I respond with “We are fine with waiting for 30 minutes, it’s no problem, and we are ready to order when you’re ready.” I’ll say I genuinely wasn’t prepared for his response, where he bitterly yelled “I have about 7 people in front of you that I am cooking for, FOR THE THIRD TIME, it will be THIRTY MINUTES, and that’s THIRTY MINUTES UNTIL I CAN TAKE YOUR ORDER, GOT IT??”
I was perplexed at how cutting and rude this response was, given that, at the very least, we could grab a coffee and wait to put in for food. There wasn’t an opportunity for that since this man was not willing to accommodate us. I have never been to a restaurant in my life where they stop taking orders if the kitchen is busy. Admittedly, it’s my first time here, and it’s possible I misunderstood what he was trying to convey, yet my wife and I get yelled at in a restaurant full of people because I’m not privy to whatever strange system this place operates on. And if I did have to wait, maybe delivering the message kindly would have incentivized me to stay.
Sir, I’m not one of your employees, and you’re not working the line behind closed doors, why don’t you turn the music down and act like a professional. This was so incredibly out of pocket that I was left speechless after leaving. I did not stick around to put my order in 30 minutes later, and I won’t be back. There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of behavior, despite how busy or understaffed you may be.
If you want to start your day with this kind of treatment, give this place a whirl. If you want to be verbally berated while trying to order breakfast, give it a shot. We are spoiled for options in this city, and I can say that I made a terrible judgement call walking in this restaurant. I won’t make that mistake again, and I will be sure to tell anyone who’ll listen about my bad...
Read moreIf I could give no stars I would. I really had high hopes for this place from all the great reviews, but sadly my experience was not so great. To start, the staff seemed as though they did not want us there and were not that friendly. (i have worked guest service for years so I always try to be the nice easy going guest. I basically ask myself, "how would I like to be treated?") I am not saying they are down right rude. But they were not very welcoming or nice either. We ordered two drinks to enjoy there, but they decided to put them to go.(this could be over looked if it was busy, but there were only 2 other people there.) I really hope it was a mistake, but it felt more like they really did not want us there. So with that I was already feeling like we were not welcome. We decided to just leave with our drinks. Onto the lattes.. to be blatantly honest it was horrible. My husband and I are very big on coffee and like to try drinks from all sorts of coffee shops/trucks. we get hits and misses and well this was a major miss. Two sips in and I was done, I had to toss it. My husband my have had one. We just walked to another shop for real coffee and great guest service. From one coffee lover to another, take a walk to one of the many other coffee...
Read moreThere was no one in line at 9:30am on Monday, March 7th with maybe 10 people waiting for food. We were so excited to try this place out, greeted the man with a “Good Morning!” And before we could get much else out he started shouting about how long the wait is going to be and how at this rate he is going to be working until close…isn’t that what you do at a job? We didn’t try the food but we sure won’t be coming back due to how unwelcoming the service was. We ended up going to Molly’s Rise and Shine cafe down the road which was absolutely PERFECT!
I looked at the other reviews and see that this might just be how they run this business. SO sad because everyone in New Orleans has been so sweet and friendly until...
