Food so bad, I wouldn’t give it to anyone hungry on the streets. For starters, the Uber Eats driver only picked up half of our order…but the half that we did get was disappointing. The $17 catfish plate we got with sweet potato fries (seen in the provided pic) had three 4” fried pieces and the rest of the plate was sweet potato fries…luckily the bartender provided me with extra catfish because of the inconvenience (only reason why I’m providing 2 stars)…but all of our order was pretty much gross. The spinach artichoke dip was overpriced and not that good. The shrimp for the Po Boy was disgusting as well…you could taste that they weren’t cleaned properly prior to being prepared. The veggie burger was gross as well. This place is pretty much serving overpriced bar food, that’s only good for soaking up the booze you consume there. I really hate to rate this place so badly, especially since it’s the last place we’ll probably eat in New Orleans and more than just a little disappointment. Needless to say, we spent $60 on food we could barely stomach and didn’t finish. It’s in the trash.

Uber Eats Order was extremely disappointing tonight. Food arrived and it was all pretty bland and underwhelming. I would have given it a 3 star rating, but I guess it’s my fault for not trying it in person. However, the burger didn’t have any seasoning on it. None. Just a beef patty cooked. It was cooked like I like it - medium rare - but the flavor was off. The shrimp po boy was OK. The shrimp was ok but again no flavor, and the bread was so rubbery (probably due to waiting in the styrofoam box for delivery, so my bad for not just coming in the restaurant, but still). Not much flavor to the shrimp, so the bread wouldn’t have saved this sandwich. They gave me a ton of onion “rings” but the onion rings were not really rings and just cooked onions that were lightly breaded (check out the photo). Finally, the catfish po boy was fine. The catfish had the most flavor of the three and would be worth the money. Reasonable prices, but I certainly wish I wouldn’t have had this late night craving and could have my money back.

First the good parts about this spot. Good deal on pricing considering the area. This part of Magazine Street offers a slightly higher food and drink price options, Down the Hatch saves the day with something reasonable. The service is very friendly, attentive, and quick. The food also comes out pretty quick with a good presentation on their plating. The number one seller here will be their amazing patio. The patio is large, has an outdoor bar, multiple TV's, heaters (or fans depending on the season), endearing kitsch lighting, and ample room for a larger group. I gave 4 stars because the food was nothing to write home about and the portions were a bit off (not nearly enough spinach dip for the amount of chips given for example). All in all, a good bar to take friends to sit outside and watch a game and chat for a while, food is okay to snack on, but wouldn't consider this spot for an over the top impressive meal.

Truly the worst service experience I have ever had in New Orleans. I've been here for years and have never been treated so poorly. I was here with a group and we expected to wait for our meal, however, an hour and a half later we had still not been served our food (and had to ask several times for our drinks). Eventually it got so cold we moved inside, and our food was still missing. Our waitress apologized for the long wait and offered us drinks, after we had received our drinks she give us a bill for the drinks that we had been offered for free. When she offered us beers we were under the impression that our two beers were for our excessive wait. She came and took the beers and dumped them out. At this point we received our orders, which for the most part, were messed up. I had spent extra money on cheese fries which were non-existant, after noticing this I asked after my cheese fries and was given a plate of fries with non-melted cheese on top. At this point our waitress said she had made a problem with ringing up our bill and had overcharged some of us and that some of the food hadn't been paid for and that we couldn't leave. We asked to speak with the manager and were left alone for another 15 minutes, during which no one else came to check on us. I would point out that during this experience, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. I will NEVER go to this restaurant again and would strongly discourage going there. Neither the food, beer, service, or atmosphere was appealing. Either down the hatch is entirely unprepared for an increase in costumers, or they are just...

I really loved this place at one time. My wife and I would come for the Texan (amazing) and the pulled pork nachos (phenomenal). We always enjoyed the customer service and there was always a great bartender. This is why it's really painful to write this review. The last two experiences with this bar have been terrible. The wife and I sat down at a table and waited over 20 minutes before I had to get up and get my own drinks. Halfway through the second drink, our waitress finally showed up with menus and explained that they were slammed. I told her it was fine and asked for another round while we decided what to eat. We never got our drinks. After waiting 10 minutes and noticing the people sitting around me were not being serviced, I decided to walk to the bar myself.... again. That's when I noticed our waitress, behind the bar, texting....... I watched her staring at her phone and furiously typing for 3 minutes (yes, I counted) before I decided to close my tab and go elsewhere. I decided to give it another go, since me and my wife have great memories here. We ordered carry-out, 2 turkey burgers and wings. The wings were great, but both turkey burgers were raw in the middle. I called to place a complaint. The person that answered told me the manager would call back..... I'm still waiting.... I don't know if this place switched owners, but I would love nothing more than to come back to this review and change it. I wish this place the best, but for now, I...

I've had bad experiences and heard of others at Down the Hatch before, but this one tops it all. I ordered delivery, but accidentally asked for hummus instead of falafel. Called back IMMEDIATELY and asked to changed it. April the manager grudgingly said she could tell the kitchen to change the food, but it would still cost the extra dollar, since falafel is more. I asked to cancel the order. "No," she said. "I can't do that."

What do you mean, can't cancel the order?? It was literally one minute by then after the order had been made. She could have canceled and redid the order. Annoying? Maybe. Impossible? No.

I was so pissed I went down there and again demanded the order be cancelled. I raised my voice (I got looks from the six regulars there, which I assure is about as many people as you'll ever see in this dump), so she called the police on me and spent more time providing my description than she did offering me any kind of customer service.

I stayed, since my food would be done soon anyway. I had my phone out leaving an angry Facebook comment, then she physically threw me out. She pushed me into a bunch of chairs, which I fell over. Then, outside already heading to my car, she struck me in the back of the head.

The food here isn't terrible, so don't blame the kitchen. But since it changed from Moonlight cafe the managerial staff has been trash. I would recommend...
