I recently visited Ember, the newest Indian restaurant in the neighborhood to take over a former coffee shop (and gas station way back when), and I was absolutely blown away! Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The chili chicken stole the show with its vibrant red sauce and perfect balance of spice and flavor. The dish was rich and tangy, with tender pieces of chicken and chunks of peppers and onions that added a nice crunch. It had just the right amount of heat to keep things exciting. The samosa was another favorite! The crispy, golden exterior gave way to a flavorful filling of spiced potatoes and peas, with a subtle kick that sneaks up on you in the best way. It was served fresh and perfectly fried—an ideal appetizer. The curry chicken was more on the mild side compared to the chili chicken, but it didn’t skimp on flavor. The creamy sauce had a beautiful depth, with warm spices that were comforting and satisfying. The chicken was cooked to perfection and paired wonderfully with some naan from their menu. Speaking of the menu, it offers a wide range of options for every palate, from vegetarian entrees to flavorful biryanis. The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall experience was amazing. I highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for delicious, authentic Indian food. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!

Ember is an absolute gem for Indian food lovers in New Orleans! Nestled in a friendly Lakeview neighborhood, this spot offers an incredible dining experience with impeccable service. The owner, whom I’ve known from his other fantastic restaurants over the years, brings authentic flavors straight from his roots. The food is outstanding—perfectly cooked in a traditional clay oven, giving each dish that rich, smoky depth. The lamb dishes were tender and flavorful, and the chicken with green sauce was an absolute highlight! Pair it with one of their craft cocktails, and you’re in for a treat. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a great place to bring friends, family, or even kids. Plus, the outdoor seating is perfect for enjoying a fresh breeze while savoring your meal. If you’re craving authentic Indian flavors with a modern touch, Ember is the place to be!

First time at this new spot and I'll come back again. The food was tasty and the spice level was definitely noticeable. If you are adverse to spice, you may want to ask the server to adjust if possible. My 2 points of note is that I really wish they had a lunch menu. The portions you get are very large (good value for money) but it's a ton of food. My 2nd point of note is that the server was...new. She felt too eager but didn't check in on me through the meal and only refilled my water when I was finishing up my meal. This place serves spicy food, so water refills should be at the top of your mind. Other than those 2 tiny details, this place is a welcome establishment to Lakeview.

There has been a deeply disappointing experience at this place. Behind the scenes, serious issues exist regarding how staff are treated and how agreements are honored. Commitments made to employees were not fulfilled, and communication was essentially non-existent — messages from staff requiring management’s involvement were consistently ignored by the owner. Expired beer was even ordered and sold to customers without proper date checks. Cocktail which use the chai tea in the ingredient even, The chai tea which use as the ingredient to make cocktail even keep in the fridge for a month to serve. Scheduling was handled poorly, leaving employees in a chaotic situation

Despite staff putting in full effort and fulfilling their responsibilities — with no complaints on service from customers — hardworking employees suffered constant stress due to a disorganized work environment and lack of basic tools to deliver proper service. To make matters worse, staff were left unpaid for weeks, with messages and calls ignored. Attempts to contact the owner were met with silence, and eventually, the employee found themselves blocked from owner's all communication channels.

A business’s reputation is built not only on how customers are treated but also on how staff are respected. This kind of behavior speaks volumes about the integrity of the owner. Anyone considering involvement — whether as a customer, supplier, or staff member — should think twice. A place that disrespects its team cannot truly...
