I chose this restaurant because it participated in my airline rewards program. I had just flown in to New Orleans around 10 am and wanted to pick up some food to take to our rental house where I would eat it and relax . I arrived to an old converted gas station with pleasant people sitting outdoors -two with their dogs so I knew that this was my kind of place. Lots of big coffee cups with local art on the walls and people enjoying their leisurely Sunday morning reading and visiting. I ordered Eggs Florentine, grits, and an order of bacon for one dollar more. I also was tempted by a display case full of lovely pastries and desserts, so I had the young, rather distracted lady, place a banana foster cheese cake ($5.99) in the bag. I paid , admired the art work on the way out , and drove to our home away from home. The Eggs Florentine ($11.00) were delicious and I wish that I could review the grits and bacon( $1), but alas they were no where to be seen. It seems that the distracted young lady had forgotten my side items and they were now about ten miles away from me. I ate the dessert and would not get it again. It had a fake banana taste that was not to my liking. I like many aspects of this place and most of the food, but could not give it a rating above three stars. Anita did offer to give me a discount or my missing food, but I never made it back during my busy three days in New Orleans. I do still want to go back for a lovely original piece of art featuring a St. Charles street car- it really captured the feel of St. Charles Ave. with the shadows of the Live Oaks cast on...
Read moreI have been driving past this little place for a few years on my way to class at Delgado Comm College and never knew what it was because there is a topline rental place right next to it and it's not the kind of road you want to look away from. I stopped one morning because I was 30 mon early and didn't get have any time to make coffee at home. Ill admit I should have spent more time fixing my coffee, bc it wasnt very good with what little I put into it. But the White chocolate raspberry scone was awesome. That was a few weeks back. So today I stopped hoping to get breakfast but missed the time. So I got the Cafe Avocado sandwich with chicken salad on a croissant. It was pricey I thought, but when the sandwich came out oh my gosh..it was loaded with like a whole sliced avocado!!! FRESH, FLAVORFUL AND REAL AVOCADO!!! The croissant was light with ever so slight crunch, the chicken salad was home made, as I was told by the staff, everything is homemade!! And even the lettuce and tomato were perfect. Now tomatoes and lettuce on my sandwich are my biggest pet peeve...if your restaurant puts a soggy mushy tomato or wilted lettuce on my sandwich, I will never go back. To me making a sandwich with fresh ingredients is as basic as making a white sauce. This place nailed it. 1 huge slide, not too thick, of beefsteak tomato I believe and nice leafy iceberg lettuce. I will be going back, hopefully next time...
Read moreWe came in and everything was ok, they treat us well at the register the problem came that we sat outside (patio) after an hour not even the drinks have been done (iced drinks, nothing elaborated). All people that were sat inside (that came after us, many people more) had their drinks and some had food on the table. She told me that she was waiting because we were sat outside… I asked before we went out that if we should wait inside for the food and then go out or what was the best way to do that, she said that they had an inter phone so they can call us through that… so please don’t tell me that was because we sat outside! We asked for our refund and we’re told that the food was just ready….. we have been waiting for an hour! They asked us three times before they accepted to have us the money back. Really disappointed, looked like a really nice and maybe really good food but left with a really bad experience. Can’t recommend these place… or sit inside…. Maybe that way you would get your...
