I have never received such rude service before!! Terry, the server who approached our group of ten, told us from the beginning that she would not sit us in the part of the restaurant that wasn’t next to the bar. She blatantly refused and informed us they didn’t want to walk back there and she was getting off to pick up her grandchildren. She said it so hateful… twice.
Now, one of our friends is a recovering alcoholic… I mentioned this to Terry trying to explain to her why we wanted to sit away from the bar…. She said she was worried about the pinched nerve in the back of the server who would be waiting on us…. She was placing the menus on the table while she coldly told me this. I then asked Terry to let me check on my friend.. she starts picking the menus up. I said “ma’am if you will just give me a minute to make sure my friend is going to be ok, maybe she can sit with her back to the bar, can’t you have some empathy in this situation”…. she proceeds to pick up the menu still fussing about the pinched nerve. I said “ma’am I am asking you to leave the menus and let me check on my friend”. She looks me in the eyes and says “No”. So cold. So rude.
I have never been more appalled at such ridiculous service. I have worked in customer service for about 20 years, including owning my own business, bartending, and waiting tables. This was absolutely unacceptable behavior.
While I realize we made a poor choice to expose my friend to this atmosphere, we decided to try this restaurant because of great reviews on the food.
Our party of ten walked out. I did tell Terry that she costs her restaurant a good bit of money. I guess that doesn’t matter to her at all.
I’m sure the food would have been great, but people will never forget how you made them feel. This was...
Read moreI have been regularly coming down to New Orleans from Memphis for many, many years and have gone out for food and drinks all over the city. I discovered Frankie and Johnny’s a year ago at Halloween and it is currently my favorite local’s neighborhood dive joint. The place made me feel at home. We came in for pre-drinks and a bite before catching a concert at Toulouse Theatre in the Quarter. Awesome creole menu and the food was on point. Gumbo was solid and that can tell you a lot off the get go about a place. Also, hands down the coldest draft beer I’ve had in the entire city. My icey cold Holy Rollers were magnificent and the glasses were frosted up. Our waitress was extremely attentive and in a very good mood. Solid service. I’ll definitely be back this Christmas with family and friends. On a side note…. I couldn’t help but notice a few other reviews about people feeling triggered because they didn’t get service soon enough and they immediately threw out the race card on this place. I call complete and utter B.S.- Maybe your service was inadequate that day and it seemed like you were singled out. Give the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes things just don’t work out exactly like you want. That doesn’t always mean it’s sinister. It’s not always about race. How dare you attribute racism as the reason for your perceived bad service experience based on one visit. How can you be so sure of that, that you would immediately go there? Grow up. I swear Generation X was the last good one. Nothing but love in this joint from what...
Read moreTonight I decided to order take-out for my sister who’s in town. I’ve bragged on Frankie & Johnny red beans for quite some time to her, and I thought I’ll treat her tonight I ordered the take out. I returned home to find only beans with no rice for two orders. I called Frankie and Johnnys to notify them of the problem. The old guy (bartender) that initially took my order answered the phone. I began to explain the problem he instantly had an attitude, and abruptly hung up the phone. I was taken back by his actions that I drove there. To my surprise as I walked in I saw the same guy stuffing his face with food while working with an house full of patrons. How sanitary is that? He didn’t have a minute to speak to me. As if I wasn’t a paying customer. I even tipped him when I initially picked up the food. I asked the manager for a refund and explained the situation and the workers attitude. He offered me a free dessert. I was so upset I refused. I was totally appalled that an employee could treat a patron in such a manner. The manager instructed the guy to give me a refund. The guy rudely placed the money on the counter not in my hand. That’s a full blown racist action. I wish no one else has to endure what I endured with the guy. I will no longer spend my hard earned money at an establishment where their workers are comfortable...
