So I got my kicks out of reading some of these negative reviews. Running a business is difficult because most great business owners do their very best to please their customers. Some of the negative reviews posted sound as though they are just coming from people who were having a bad day to start with, then came into this establishment, and didn't get one thing their way, and decided to start on a bashing rant. For other reviews, it sounds like people don't understand what a poboy is, and/or have never had one prior to having one at this place. I am from New Orleans, but live on the westbank of New Orleans, and will say that from me and my family's perspective, you can NOT, find a better shrimp poboy in the city. We like all of the poboys here, but the shrimp is hands down the best. No other shop provides you will a bigger, nor more delicious stuffed poboy. Yes, the poboys are a little pricier, but there are tons of shrimps on these poboys, AND, they are shareable. My husband and I will split a long poboy two ways and will be satisfied. With me and my daughters, I will get a long and have it split three ways, and we are all happy. Don't forget the sweet tea they brew because you wont find a better...
Read moreWe were disappointed. After spending the morning at the zoo, we searched for the closest Po-Boy place with high star ratings. Gus’s was super close and had excellent ratings. After dropping $87 on 5 Po-Boy’s, an order of fries, a tiny sweet potato pie and a small gumbo we were missing our regular spot. Everyone ordered shrimp Po-Boys and I ordered a roast beef and shrimp. I will say they were huge and stuffed, but seriously lacking flavor! My roast beef had no flavor at all and our shrimp did not taste like Louisiana gulf shrimp; looked and tasted more like Chinese white shrimp. The French fries were plentiful and tasted ok. The sweet potato pie was tiny, and we didn’t even finish it. It actually was over seasoned and tasted slightly bitter from too many spices. The best part of the meal was the bread. The bread was great, not dried out and great flavor! The gumbo was salty and light colored. My daughter ended up finishing it off for us and she loved it. Three stars for the bread and the fact that the po-boy’s were...
Read moreThis was our last stop for food on our short stay in New Orleans last weekend before heading back to the midwest. We had planned a lunch at Domilise's but they were closed getting a new vent hood, so through Google, we found Guy's. I have never been so happy to be re-routed in my life. The roast beef poboy was probably the best sandwich I have ever eaten. I finished a large one by myself and then ate the other half of my wife's fried shrimp poboy. They were both fantastic. Paired with an ice cold root beer out of a glass bottle and I didn't ever want to stop eating. The young man at the front counter was super nice (which was a nice change from some of the attitude that we had been getting at other restaurants) and they even went out of their way to offer my 5 year old daughter something that wasn't even on the menu. When we go back to New Orleans, this will not be saved for the last stop. It will be one of the top destinations on the food list. I...
