Title: Unpleasant Dining Experience with Subpar Service
⭐️
I had high hopes for this restaurant after hearing positive reviews, but my recent experience has left me with no desire to return. Despite attempting to dine here several times, I was surprised to find that reservations were mandatory even when there were visibly open tables.
For our reservation, a party of five, we were seated uncomfortably close to another table, despite open round tables by the window being available. Oddly, those tables were occupied by a party of two. The seating arrangement was less than ideal, and it set the tone for what was to come.
Our disappointment continued when three of us ordered fried chicken and I opted for the fried grouper. My son's first bite into his fried chicken revealed a raw and tough interior, prompting us to send it back. The replacement was better, but my own fried grouper sandwich presented a similar problem. The inside separated from the burnt fry, and the inside was raw. Despite my ruined appetite, I chose not to send it back.
To add to our dismay, the manager failed to address the issue with us, leaving a sense of neglect. We had to proactively ask for the grouper to be removed from the bill. It felt as if they had forgotten to prepare our plates and hastily cooked our meals, with the grease likely being too hot, resulting in burnt exteriors and raw interiors.
I've included pictures with arrows highlighting the raw inside and circles indicating hard pieces of fry that separated from the grouper. The lack of managerial intervention and the overall poor dining experience have solidified my decision not to return to this restaurant. Hopefully, this review serves as constructive feedback for...
Read moreThis was our first time at Junior’s and wasn’t too thrilled with our experience. Between the three of us, there was something off about all of our entrees. The bolognese was NOT good at all and was probably the worst thing of the night. It has absolutely no flavor, it was unreal. The scallops were cooked pretty well, but over seasoned and salty, yet the risotto was flavorless. Red fish was dry and overcooked. Appetizers were actually good, we had shrimp toast and brussels. Drinks were pretty standard and decent. Service left a lot to be desired, to say the least. Our server was ok, but things took a minor turn when she absolutely knew we weren’t satisfied with the bolognese, which was ultimately sent back and taken off. We’d sat this dish at the end of the table which should’ve prompted her to come over, but instead she avoided in every way she could. Until she had no choice but to check on us. BUT this was minor and our only gripe with service. We went in wanting dessert at the end, but with this experience, we decided against it and just walked down the street for ice cream.
While it was quite noisy upstairs, this wasn’t a huge concern for us. It was quite festive and decorated nicely for holiday season though. We’ve heard nothing but great things about Junior’s and it just sucks that our first experience was this. I’m hoping it was really just an off night. Did leave not full and pretty disappointed in what we’d just spent, for not so...
Read moreWould not return. Would not recommend to a friend. Our server, Kimani, was fine, but the place was filthy dirty with a half days worth of food and debris all over the floor, it was quite warm upstairs, and the food was less than impressive. I had high hopes based off other reviews I read, but it was definitely a let down. We ordered the brunch nachos, the chicken biscuit with sausage gravy, and a side of gouda grits. The nachos were okay (not worth a return visit), the grits were hard and dry like 2 day old play-do with zero flavor, we returned them, and the sausage gravy biscuit LACKED sausage gravy so I requested extra to put on the biscuit which clearly had no gravy on it. They brought out a small 2oz ramekin, which got the job done, but then much to my surprise I was charged $3 for this dollop of gravy that should have been on my biscuit to begin with. I felt that was quite petty. Three whole dollars....for 10 cents worth of gravy. . . And on top of all that nonsense, the biscuit tasted dry and perhaps was leftover from saturdays brunch being served on Sunday. Which is why the gravy was an imperative piece to this meal. Had it been on the biscuit to begin with I would likely not have noticed how dry the biscuit was. Anyyywho, take your chances if you wish, but I'm certain you can brunch...
