For the last 6 years we have lived 4 blocks away, and have dined at Lakeview Pearl less than 12 times. Reason being is the food is nothing spectacular. Shogun on vets has better quality meat, and the prices are not as high... Tonight will be the last time we visit Lakeview Pearl. Let me show you why. We do not order our rolls with rice, we have always ordered them with no rice, only the meat and vegetable wrapped in either soy or rice paper. We order them this way all over the country, and the rolls visually look quite similar to the other rolls which have rice. Tonight was a special kind of experience. We ordered 2 rolls, no rice. When we picked them up we had no reason to inspect the order, we never had the restaurant forgot anything. We paid, grabbed the bag and headed home.. That's when it got really special... Upon visually inspecting the rolls we found what you see in the photos.. It appears that Lakeview Pearl decided no rice means the customer only gets 1/2 a roll or less. In 25 years of eating sushi, I have never seen a restaurant make the roll so significantly smaller. They always are about the same size as every other roll, maybe a tad smaller, but not what you see. I guess they are really hard up for $, and thought it would be appropriate to present their customer with this.. I have trouble believing any sushi chef would be ok with this..We immediately sent the photos to few friends who are also restauranters. We had to know if what they sold us was out of the ordinary in their expert opinion. It turns out they all agree that what we were given is not acceptable. In closing, it goes without saying that this was not a good idea Pearl. Imagine how many people we will share these photos and story with..?? Its a great conversation, which will also bring many laughs. I hope this helps just one person. If not, maybe the Pearl will close and a better restaurant will open. That would be fantastic..The owners of Juniors would be a...

Accustomed to North Shore manners and customer service, we weren't shocked or surprised at our experience here. We were looking for something light and quick, and were looking forward to the quiet calm of the restaurant during the LSU game. Sideswiped by a server who crashed into us like a dump truck skidding sideways off a gravel road, we were advised that our youngest diner (my 20ish son who doesn't eat much) could not order a kids meal..fine, so we ordered up an entree, a baked salmon roll, and a couple of Miso soups. The soup was hot, tasty, everything good. The underwhelming Chicken Teriyaki was what you'd expect from most American sushi places I guess, chicken breast doused in a Sysco sauce and not properly sauteed or finished, some sliced onions which were caramelized just enough to not appear raw, but still hot and accompanied by pretty good stickier than average steamed rice.

The Baked Salmon Roll slammed the brakes on the out of control dump truck experience, though...it was presented nicely by the server, now back pedaling from her initial "bright lights in the rear view mirror tailgating one foot behind you going 55 in a 20" greeting, looking more like a pecan log roll at a Stuckee's rather than a proper dish. Stuffed with artificial crabmeat and wrapped with a small rubber band like ribbon of salmon which I could barely taste actually, it was lumpy, dumpy, and well, really disappointing. The artificial crab nougat center was room temperature, well, maybe slightly around body temperature, and honestly, I couldn't finish it.

If we do show up again, I'll be asking for a less aggressive server and stick with the soup and maybe something on the Tempura side of the table..typically bullet proof in the...

01/26/17: 4.0 out 5 - Coming from Portland, Oregon with close friends. Six of us total to be exact, and we're all "Foodies".

Admittedly, we did not know what to really expect being we just arrived and this was our first night in New Orleans. We were surprised with a lot of places closes by 9 PM.

Lakeview Pearl Sushi Bar and Asian Bistro just so happened to be close to the AirBnB we all were staying at. It is a local restaurant with parking available. Lakeview definitely was a good place to be with close friends on the first night. The staff were quick to greet and seat us, and they all were great and good to us.

The food was prepped well and quite tasty. We seemed to have a decent variety. The drinks (cocktails) were actually very good and went well with all the food we ordered.

If you never have been or visiting the area, definitely worth trying once and deciding for...

Lakeview Pearl Sushi Bar & Asian Bistro is amazing. We highly recommend this restaurant for it's great service, food, and wine. The staff is always welcoming and friendly and there is hardly any waiting times. We think these starters the clear soup and house salad are a must try. The egg rolls and Pad Thai noodles are really good too. We think the sushi is also great. We recommend trying any of the food here.
