I am honestly not sure why this places gets such raving reviews.

First of all, the inside of the restaurant is dark, dank, and smells like old house. Coming from the daughter of a pest control company owner, that is a recipe for disaster. Bugs LOVE that type of environment. Also, found out later that they allow dogs in the restaurant. Not just service animals, but dogs. Could be why it smells in there šŸ™…šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Next, the drinks are $4 a pop, and yea the frozen glasses are cool I guess. But... No refills? That's a steep price for 8oz of cold drink. Not a good value at all.

Guests were not being served all together, which I thought was weird. My daughter was served first and then a few minutes later, they brought my food out. Then, the same thing happened at the table next to us. The wife got her food, then his came way later. He had to ask the waitress for his food 2x, and they were not busy.

My daughter got the "meatball and pasta", and they forgot her salad. She also mentioned the meatball tasted odd.

I got the shrimp and catfish combo with fries. Unfortunately, Nothing was seasoned at all. Bland as all get out. 5 pieces of shrimp, and 1 piece of fish for $23. Ridiculous! And the fries were not cooked thoroughly, and were soaking in grease.

The waitress was nice but a bit odd. She did tend to us well though, which was the only positive about the whole evening.

Overall, there is absolutely no way I would eat here again. Where it appears they only know how to cook garlic bread correctly. I honestly wish I could get my $80 back 😬 management wasn't notified because I am not that type of person. You should make your food taste good the first time around. I am not about to call a manager over to fix your mistake. That is your...

Got snapped at trying to sit at the only table that appeared to have enough space for the stroller. Ended up by the bathrooms, jammed in the corner with the stroller sticking out into the walkway to the bathroom. Waited 15-20 minutes for our sodas (I got the wrong drink). Ordered fried mushrooms to start. For entrees we got 2 red beans and rice and a Caesar salad. The 2 red beans came out before the appetizer but never received the French bread or the side salads that were supposed to come with it. Then we got the fried mushrooms before I got my Caesar salad. The two that ordered red beans finished their food before I got my salad but we couldn’t get our servers attention. Had to go to her to ask for my salad. Then she brought us the check and the two people that ordered red beans still had not gotten their salads and I was trying to get some extra dressing for the Caesar salad that took forever even though all they did was put lettuce on the plate and squeeze a little dressing on top. I thought with how long it took, they could have at least tossed it. We saw tables that sat after us and ordered more than us not only get their food in the correct order, but were finished both courses by the time we had all our entrees (minus the side salads which we got Togo since they didn’t come while we were eating). Also, much smaller servings than I expected for the price. Decent tasting red beans and it is a cute little spot but atmosphere only...

You get exactly what you expect from a place like this. The three of us went there for lunch and had red beans and rice, fried green tomatoes and chicken and sausage gumbo, onion rings piled, high sautƩed spinach, and iced tea to wash it all down.

The staff was super friendly and attentive, even when we changed our minds after placing the order never was it problem to adjust and bring what we were looking for. Our food was prepared promptly. The red beans were some of the creamiest I’ve had in a long time. The gumbo was super flavorful and that was followed up with the fried green tomatoes and onion rings. Well, they were just really great.

When it came to getting the bill, there was none of this pretentious ā€œWe’ve added 20% tip alreadyā€. I’m sick and tired of these forced additions to my bill even before I’ve had a look at my meal or even a cup of coffee. I’m all for paying an honest wage to serving staff and the kitchen. I do want restaurants to be honest with their clients and deliver them experience they desire.

Liuzza’s it’s just what you expect and a little bit more. There’s nothing overly fancy here honest people serving honest food and treating their patrons kindly. All at a fair price I have to give five stars. Some might say this isn’t a 5-star place and I can understand that. For me it delivered exactly what I expected and wanted and just a little bit more.

We need more...

We saw Liuzza's on TrueSouth and with Sicilian ancestry and a love of WWII history, we knew we had to stop in while in town. We walked right in and were seated and greeted, no wait. Our waitress Morgan was absolutely the best! I asked about the Eggplant Napoleon and she said it was the best thing on the menu. She was not kidding. It was everything I never knew I wanted and more! My husband ordered the Frenchuletta (as seen on the show) and it was freaking AMAZING too! The olive salad on it was absolutely to die for and I'm not a big olive fan. The sandwich was also massive, a big plus when walking all day. We were trading plates back and forth the entire time. It was a later lunch for us (3pm) and was enough food to hold us doing tourist stuff until around 8. Everything was very well priced which is hard to find sometimes when traveling. Wish we lived closer so we could become regulars!! I actually asked my husband how many times we could fit in to eat that sandwich on this trip...maybe even take one for the road. Easily the best version of a mufaletta I've ever had.
