Markey's is a not-so-hidden oasis in New Orleans' Bywater. It's located at the intersection of Louisa and Royal and has a lot of great sidewalk space. It's fun for people watching and making friends.
The food is solid and there are many beers on tap. The staff are super and when they aren't busy will take time to make friends. They are part of the spirit of the bywater.
I've spent many a late night at Markey's just chillin. There are plenty of nights that lack sports so its a fun place to play the jukebox and joke around.

We ended up drinking them outta Jack Daniels that Wednesday night. Came back Thursday, no Jack due to supply line issue. I gave Roy, the owner, a little grief about not having Jack. Little while later, as we sat outside, the bartender on duty walked out with a Jack for me. Told me Roy was able to talk his distributor into a bottle. THAT is customer service.
