Came into visit the Bywater area. Went to Markey’s as it was close to the house we rented. Jordan, what a perfect bartender and great person to convers with. We ended up drinking them outta Jack Daniels that Wednesday night. Came back Thursday, no Jack due to supply line issue. I gave Roy, the owner, a little grief about not having Jack. Little while later, as we sat outside, the bartender on duty walked out with a Jack for me. Told me Roy was able to talk his distributor into a bottle. THAT is customer service. GREAT local bar, wish my local bar was this good.

4 star locals dive bar. Not classy, brassy bywater locals bar. The people are always friendly, 20 plus beers on tap. 100 year old bldg. Over 70 years as a family owned bar. Everyone should stop by and check out this old school neighborhood bar. Sports package on the 15 plus TVs. A great place to hangout and watch the game. The food is usually pop up it will between 3-4 stars depending. 4-5 star experience usually but it a dive type bar. It not a bad things it is friendly environment but not for the snobby type.

Markey's is a not-so-hidden oasis in New Orleans' Bywater. It's located at the intersection of Louisa and Royal and has a lot of great sidewalk space. It's fun for people watching and making friends.

The food is solid and there are many beers on tap. The staff are super and when they aren't busy will take time to make friends. They are part of the spirit of the bywater.

I've spent many a late night at Markey's just chillin. There are plenty of nights that lack sports so its a fun place to play the jukebox and joke around.

I haven't tried the entire menu, I usually stick to chicken strips or nachos which certainly...

Updated review from 2 yrs ago. Used to love this place. Had great service, food and music. Now no food and no juke box (guess you can have pizza delivered in)? Have to listen to music that the owner likes and it makes you want to pour salt in your eyes. He is in there all the time drunk and loud. Hey, maybe have a bar for your customers and not your own man cave. I know you are there every night but just have your friends over to your house so your customers music doesn't bother you. The bartenders before they closed (covid) were the best. No idea if any...
