McKenzie's Chicken in a Box — Restaurant in New Orleans

I ordered thru DoorDash for a pickup. My pickup time was for 3:45. I waited until 3:50 to enter, stood in line for about 15 minutes and it was then that I received confirmation for my order. That was ok because there were still 2 people before me. Once I told them I was here for a DD pickup, my order was still not ready. So I wait another 10 minutes or so. I finally received my food at 4:30. My order included a 3 piece chicken plate. A breast and 2 wings. My sides were SM mustard greens, LRG red bean, LRG okra and SM sweet potato casserole. I’m not being funny when I say ALL of it was trash. Chicken was dry and seemed to be refried. The mustard greens were bland and undercooked. The beans were OK at best, no meat in the red beans. The sweet potato casserole was OK as well, less pecans would make it better. The okra was the only thing that was perfect. I’m not sure what’s happened over the years but McKenzie’s could definitely use a Re-Vamp. Inside is terrible and needs ALOT of work. I truly hope things get better as McKenzie is a staple in...

I actually just went in there to see the nostalgia at this Mckenzie store that is now a chicken place. When I looked in the window and saw the original displays and layout, it made me feel like a kid again, going to get day old donuts for a funeral or something for my mom, with my sister and i riding bikes or jumping over a train.

Really back good memories.

Unfortunately, I didn't even try the chicken, although smelled amazing and they were busy as hell. They are probably the only ones that kept the original displays and the layout the way it was and I have mad respect for that! I miss Mckenzie's and simple things like that...

The chicken was not good the girl at register was not nice she look people up and down as you walk up when i got home with the chicken and gizzard it was saggy didn't have a taste the Red beans was black it was not good and when walk out of the building smelled like die rat its not the best place in the world to buy chicken and as you stand in place waiting for my food I constant smell the miserable smell I started return the chicken.. I work at that place in 1991 it was Mckenzie donut and chicken to the place has gone down big time they miss me with that rat...
