I arrived at the restaurant on September 18, 2025, at approximately 3:30 PM. I intended to place my order and then head straight home, but I opted to wait because they open at 4pm and I had to travel a considerable distance. As I sat in my car, I noticed a man inside the place of business. Time ticked by, and by 4:00 PM, the doors remained firmly shut.
As I waited, now 4:05, I watched a woman of a different ethnicity approach the restaurant. When she arrived at the door, it was as if a lightbulb had gone off. The man, idly watching the surroundings, finally sprang into action and opened the door for her. I couldn't help but feel a sense of frustration, especially as I prepared to leave. I pulled away disappointmented.
After seeing this, I decided to vocalize my concerns. I called the restaurant, reiterating how perplexed and upset I was about what had took place. "I've been sitting here since 3:30 PM," I pointed out, "and at no point did anyone open the door until 5 minutes after 4:00 PM. It took someone of a different ethnicity to arrive before you acted."
His response was somewhat dismissive, as he indicated that he had not noticed my presence due to his focus on preparing orders in the kitchen. However, it was difficult to accept that I could be overlooked, considering I was parked directly in front of the door. Additionally, it was concerning to witness him repeatedly assert or try to justify that another individual was not a customer while she attempted to open the door. Regardles, it is important to note that by 4:00 PM, the establishment should have been open for business.
It left me questioning the reasons behind this oversight. What struck me most was his lack of an apology or acknowledgment. Instead of regretting the misunderstanding or being apologetic for the inconvenience caused, his only response was, “Well, I didn’t know you were a customer.” I couldn’t help but think that if he had opened the door at 4:00 PM without waiting for someone else to arrive, neither of us would have been in this situation. Ultimately, I drove off at 4:06 PM, still perplexed by...
