Thank You, SUPERIOR SEAFOOD The Perfect Start to a much needed stay- cation in our hometown, New Orleans, Louisiana. We arrived a little before checkin and decided to have a late lunch / early dinner. A more perfect discovery, IMO, could not have been chosen. We just live on the North shore and of course we drive over frequently, but if you have ever lived here, You know what it means miss New Orleans. So, we try to have 3 to 4 day weekends in our NOLA. We love to visit the hotels and restaurants and so many of our favorite places, and the places we have never been. Today we started with something new to us and were completely, WOWED! We both decided to have the PRIX FIXE LUNCH, a 3 course meal. I had the Crawfish Beignets (Sooo good) and my forever bride chose the Sensational Salad with Calamata Olives, beautiful large cherry tomatoes and an incredible feta cheese which may be the best that I have ever tasted. We both opted for the 8oz Skirt Steak (medium) over the Salmon, which was not an easy decision. The skirt steaks arrived as 2- 4oz. portions and a french fry cone full of fresh cut potatoes with peel still at each end. The skirts were perfectly cooked, tender and coated with the most delicious glaze that immediately impresses your tastebuds. The flavor hinted to what I thought similar to teriyaki, yet there was something more. The Chef obviously believes in lagniappe because the little something extra was absolutely pride in what he presented. And that said, reminds me to also toss some attention to the bartender, uh no wait, I'm sorry. The Mixologist. My Old Fashion was also, Perfect! Now, not to take a single thing away from the perfection of the food and spirits, please, as if. However, Cody pulled this experience from beginning to end like I have not enjoyed as much in m, well, maybe never before. Cody's attention to his own performance is not that of any service provided in the character of people today. You would have to be at least 45 years old at the very youngest to have a dinning experiences like he provided for us. There is no way that Cody has ever dined out and experienced anything equal to his self. I attribute that to probably wonderful parents that he makes shine brighter than most. His delivery is like a well rehearsed or constant practice. He was only around at the exact moment of needing him to be at our table. I don't know where he was paying attention to be watch and paying attention to everything as the only time I saw him at a distance was like he was making the perfect entrance into the dining room leaving the kitchen focused on his guest. I did notice as he walked by tables he appeared to be calculating time of a possible refill, how much longer until the guest will be ready for the next course and returned to the kitchen to prep, I guess. Recalling his description of the chefs preparations and getting things just right, his description of what to expect in appearance and taste and delivery and not once mentioning his own attention to it all, including time management. Just WOW. Anyone reading this that owns or manages a restaurant would be wise to dine at Superior Seafood and see if I know what I am talking about, because I assure you, the whole experience at Superior Seafood is the competition. Especially considering the fact that AI is getting ready to replace so much human interaction. And if a robot provides better service than humans do, the personal relations will drop even lower than today's standards. Cody, and I suspect the other team members or manager or whomever does the training at Superior Seafood has a strong sense of impressing the owner whom should feel like they have successfully created something we all want. And please don't call the servers or waiters and waitresses, because it was much more than that. This was each and everyone on their team a...
Read moreI’m a bit late on this review but I feel it’s important to put it out. So many positive reviews around service but my experience was completely different. TJ was obviously not their server.
First I had my two nieces with me who are in their 20s and were excited to be in NOLA and at this restaurant. TJ came to our table immediately telling us the specialty drinks what cocktails we wanted not “what can I get you to drink”. He was immediately turned off (his face said it all) when I said no cocktails for the table. We ordered our drinks and I ordered escargot to start.
I happen to not be very hungry so when it came time to order dinner I ordered crab and crawfish bisque only. He asked me again if I was sure that was all I wanted: I assured him I had the escargot and I was not very hungry. My nieces ordered their means and he walked away. One of them said wow I think you made him mad and the other agreed.
We sat under a fan and all three of us were chilly so I asked him to turn off the fan. His first response was to look up and ask me why. I said all of us are chilly so he turned it off.
Our meals come out and unfortunately my bisque was barely warm. It was not delivered by him so I had to wait for him to come by. I ask for it to be either warmed up or replaced. He obliged and shortly brought a bowl back that was scorching hot on one side and the other side was the same as before. I’m not sure how that happens but nonetheless it was warmer than it was.
The girls enjoyed their meals (bacon wrapped shrimp and catfish napoleon): both said they were delicious. My bisque was ok mainly because it had the consistency of chicken noodle soup. It was by no means bisque and I was not about to send it back a second time or complain.
He came back when we were finished and ask about desert. Only one niece wanted dessert and he said to my other niece you could get another one to share. She politely declined and his face said it all yet again.
Overall it was decent but absolutely not worth what it cost nor I restaurant I would return too...
Read moreWe stopped by last night for an anniversary dinner. We had an early reservation, which didn’t really seem like it was needed, however by the time we left it was very crowded.
To start they bring out a loaf of bread. The bread was fine. It would’ve been nice to have a knife to cut it so that we didn’t have to tear chunks off to eat it.
Next up, we ordered two appetizers: Crawfish Cornbread and a half dozen Char-Grilled Oysters. The oysters were very hot and smelled delicious, but I have to say as a first time oyster try-er, I was underwhelmed. The crawfish cornbread on the other hand, was very good! We cleaned the plate. Highly recommend!
For the main course I had the Crawfish Mac and Cheese (it’s actually an appetizer) based on previous reviews. My husband had the Blackened Catfish Napoleon. The Mac and Cheese was amazing! Extra cheesy and the sauce was tasty. My only criticism is that the crawfish was heavily concentrated to one side of the dish so I didn’t get any for the first several bites. My husband said that the Catfish was tasty as well. When asked he said that it was “perfectly decent” but could come up with any better descriptors.
For dessert, my husband tried the Bread Pudding and I had the Carrot Cake. The bread pudding was more of a single sized portion and the carrot cake was of a more shareable size.
Bread pudding review: “It was fantastic. One of the best bread puddings I’ve ever had. The sauce was (insert Homer Simpson type noise). The only complaint is that, for the price, it was pretty small.”
Carrot cake review: I have no words. I took one bite and texted my Mom in Minnesota and told her to put this cake on her bucket list. So good!
Overall, it was a good experience. They didn’t have the drink my husband wanted (even though it was on the menu) so that was disappointing. That and the overall “underwhelming” taste of a few dishes caused them to...
