This is a long one folks! Update: After talking to the manager I gave this place another shot and I think it was worse than the first experience and honestly the worst restaurant I’ve ever been in. Again, the floors were unreasonably sticky (my flip flop stuck to the floor multiple times) and the menus were dirty. The cup I got was also dirty and even the waitress realized and got me a new one. So after ordering my entree I asked for it to be well done and when I got it, it was rare so I asked for it to be cooked more, no biggie! But when I got it back it was STILL rare because they just seared it, didn’t actually cook it through. So at this point my husband has already finished his po boy (which he did enjoy) and I was still waiting on a dang burger. I finally got it back and what do ya know, still pink! At that point I just asked for a new one in a to go box..and the waitress took it off the bill and was very nice and apologetic. I was there for about an hour and a half and didn’t even get to eat my entree. (There was only two other tables being occupied while we were there). I have never asked for food to be sent back to a kitchen in my life. After two horrible experiences, I will not be going back ever again. If a restaurant can’t keep their establishment clean then I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like.
First review: Okay so there’s a few things that set me off and just made it a bad experience overall. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. The smell was unbearable (like portapotty in the dead of summer smell) and there was stuff all over the floor. The menus were sticky and the floors were dirty/sticky as well. The burger I got was super small and not worth the price, also they put shredded cheese on it..that’s a first. The hush puppies were dryer than a Texas desert. The chili cheese fries were soggy and the chili was either canned or poorly made. They were also out of everything..even the sweet tea! I was really hoping to love this place since I moved right down the street from it but I don’t think I’ll be coming back or recommending this restaurant to anyone.
The only good thing about this place was the decor and our...
Read moreTo be honest, this was not our first choice. Our 15yo son was craving a burger, but the first place we went to was closed... so we remembered this place when we were riding the streetcar. It was about a 10min walk from our AirBnB. You enter towards the back even though the restaurant front is on St. Charles. It looked like there was a parking lot in back and some parking allowed on the streets. It is connected to a little coffee shop too... keeping that in mind for the morning! Upon walking in, we noticed a nice atmosphere, bright, clean, and friendly staff. You can sit on the bar side or on the otherside of the restaurant. There was plenty of seating, not busy at all, but also a Monday night (around 8pm). You order at the counter and then find your seat. Self-serve soft drinks, which my boys liked the Strawberry soda and I was a fan of the mango-peach iced tea! The food came out quick, it was hot and delicious. Our dishes were, the Roast Beef Po-boy, the Big Cheezee, the Bacon Cheddar Burger (but we replaced the burger with chicken - no charge!), and I had the Shrimp Tacos. All of the platters came with their signature Garlic Fries... they were so yummy! They have a soft-serve ice cream machine (vanilla) by the drink station as well, can't beat a free ice cream cone after your meal! My son said he thought the cone was stale... but I had to explain to him those cake cone are supposed to taste like cardboard 😂 We are so happy we ended up here and would definitely eat there again! Oh! And their bathrooms were very clean, that is a bonus in our...
Read moreFusion of fast food and sit-down type restaurant, although your food is cooked to order, not warmed up in a microwave or kept warm in a hotbox. I ordered the fried soft shell crab poboy/plate and was glad I did. Crab was cooked and seasoned well. Good portion size and the garlic sauced fries were delicious. I also ordered a cup of their "best gumbo in town." Now that, I was disappointed in. They definitely need to step up their gumbo game, particularly if you advertise it as best in town. As I said earlier, fusion of fast food type restaurant, you order at the front, they give you a number, you find a table or booth, and they bring your food to you when ready. Sit-down type restaurant as they frequently check on you and make sure you're ok and don't need anything. I was with two others. One ordered the house burger, and the other had a roast beef poboy. He was pleased with the burger and was pleasantly surprised by the garlic sauced fries. My other companion was a little disappointed in the roast beef poboy because it wasn't anything like a typical New Orleans roast beef poboy dripping with gravy and filled with meat. It was a good sandwich, but not as good a poboy as some other places. The atmosphere wasn't bad. There's a nice view of St. Charles St. and the street cars, but inside is not much to write about. Finally, they do have "FREE" soft serve ice cream for desert. Yes, I would go back and...
