Living in Australia you hear about the great dishes' of the Americas. While we are used to eating Rabbit and Kangaroos everytime an American would visit they always mentioned "The Jackson Cushing Special," from WOW Cafe. A dish so secretive that you must bring fireworks and set them off while running around painted in Red, White, and Blue just for the employees to be willing to make it. I knew I had to try it. So I got on a flight and headed straight to New Orleans to try it. When I arrived I first just asked for the dish. The employees looked at me like I was crazy. I knew what I had to do. I proceeded to do the ritual staring deep into the soul of the employees. The ordeal was so intense that the Louisiana National Guard actually came to shut it down. With the Guard being there the employees proceeded to make the dish. The special was nothing like Ive had before. My first bite sent my body into another world, I started to feel colors and see sound. I began to see entities that took control of my body and sent it to another dimension. Life as it was shattered in front of my eyes. All I could see was ⊑⟒⌰⌿ ⋔⟒, ⌇⏃⎐⟒ ⋔⟒, ⍙⊑⟒⍀⟒ ⏃⋔ ⟟ ⊑⟒⌰⌿ ⋔⟒, ⌇⏃⎐⟒ ⋔⟒, ⍙⊑⟒⍀⟒ ⏃⋔ ⟟⊑⟒⌰⌿ ⋔⟒, ⌇⏃⎐⟒ ⋔⟒, ⍙⊑⟒⍀⟒ ⏃⋔ ⟟. And in that moment I figured out how the universes in workings functioned. I woke up three days later in a motel 30 miles away with no recollection of how I got there. If you can try the special your life...
Read moreI originally came asking for the cheesecake sandwich but they were all out which I thought was a little disturbing given the “situation” The waiter recommend the Jackson Cushing Special instead citing that it was easy to make and the store was about to close. He said he wasn’t suppose to tell me about it but that if I said Jackson Cushing special five times he had to make it. I went ahead and said it 5 times as he face lit up. Right when I got to the 5th special he got write to work. It took nearly 3 hours and almost the entire kitchen staff to cook. They were even calling in workers to work overtime. Finally I got my sandwich and it came out to $9.50 but I decided to pay in monthly installments using Klarna as I spent all my money renting The Sting pt 2 while waiting for my food. It is a fish tartar sandwich with the works on a lightly toasted brioche bun with some sort of secret ingredient mixed into the tartar sauce which added a kick but was a little salty. I have to say it was pretty darn good. 10/10. Best fish sandwich I’ve found so far in the NOLA metroplex. Worth the drive if your coming from a far place like River Ridge...
Read moreWhere do I even begin with my experience the WOW cafe located on 31 McAlister Drive. I had heard rumors of a fish so delightful so delicious that I had to fly to New Orleans to try this classic. "The Jackson Cushing Special" is how the locals refer to it. I arrived at wow and requested this special item. The workers refused and denied even knowing that this special exists. I realized I was going to have to work for one of the most delicious fish you can find In New Orleans. I dropped to my knees and starting begging for the special making an absolute scene. Eventually after 30 minutes the employees agreed to make the special as I had passed their grit test. They told me a meal earned is better than a free meal. That stuck with me while I was chowing down on the best fish I have had In the United States. As a world renown food critic this fish is the best I've ever had. 10/10 recommendation. (You must work for your fish to...
