Kava Java — Restaurant in New Smyrna Beach

I've been really wanting a local coffee shop that I vibed with for a really long time and Kava Java does that for me - it's a fun, inclusive atmosphere that genuinely is a welcoming place. The coffee there is wonderful as well, which is awesome! It's always fresh and it's consistently really tasty. They use quality ingredients and are aware about stuff like lactose intolerance and wheat allergies, so I never feel worried about my order coming out wonky. I haven't gotten sick here once and I'm already a frequent flyer even though they haven't been open long!

I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis, so it's great that all the seating is comfortable too - one of my beefs with a lot of places is that it's hard to find a place to sit comfortably, but that's not a problem here! It's also decorated with local art which is really cool - I love that as an artist myself and think it's really thoughtful that they include artists from around town. It's a super nice touch!

Another huge plus for me is that most of my family is immunocompromised and the management here isn't shamey about masking, so I feel like when I'm well enough I can actually come to events without worry - it's nice to know I can actually be social but not worry about making myself or my mom sick, as her health is really fragile. It genuinely feels like the folks here care about you and that makes a difference! I may not be able to show up to events often but it's nice to know that I'll be able to.
