Google says this place is open until 5. My family and I came in at 2:40 pm after realizing they closed at 3. We place our order at 2:51 and we were rudely met at our table by Norma. When we ordering we were instantly told, “we’re out of soup since we close at 3.” And stated “we close at 3” two other times while ordering. I kept in our receipt to show we were charged $64.43. I paid on my phone and tipped $9. My aunt then left a $5 cash tip. We didn’t realize that this is a conjoined place with an art store so after paying, my sister, uncle, and I went over to the art shop while my aunt and mom went outside. Our server, Norma, went and cleaned our table and proceeded to talk loudly with her coworkers and said “You come in ten minutes before closing and only leave a $5 tip? How rude.” And such. I was so baffled that she openly talked like that with customers in the store. We felt horrible to come in so late but there are three different closing times and they are conjoined with an art shop that is open later and is why I included a picture of the front doors. Norma, I am sorry you thought we only left you $5, you were rude at first and friendly at the end. The food was amazing and my family enjoyed all...
Read moreAdorable place I was so glad to stumble across. Can't figure out exactly what rubbed me the wrong way. Could've been the grumpy server who brought me 2 cups of coffee with mysterious salty substance on the rim that she couldn't see... tasted like Parmesan cheese. Or could've been the waitress feeding herself as she was serving tables putting cookie/cake whatever directly into her mouth chomping while out on the floor. Or maybe it was the very visible cook who kept giving me the evil eye making obviously unpleasant comments about me to coworkers cuz of my food allergies. It may also be when owners walked around tables and snubbed customers refusing to make eye contact with any. Oh I know what it was.... not being able to get out of the bathroom the rest of the day from getting sick from the food- ya...
Read moreMy sisters and I went to vote and wanted some breakfast. We were so surprised to find this gem open on Canel St. What a wonderful place to sit and visit over a delicious coffee and breakfast. The place is spotless clean, the menu has a good selection of homemade choices and the waitress was very inviting and kind. Locals came and sat as they visited with each other. A men's Bible study group was meeting in the back section of the restaurant and others came in to get menus to eat outside. It was a reminder of days gone by, when the community met in the local diner for a cuppa joe! We will be back! How have we missed it, living just 5 miles away?! The pictures tell the story of what we ate. Like I said, homemade goodness! Price was right too. Thanks to the team that keeps this spot open!...
