Amazingly really good food is being made in this small intimate restaurant. To start we had the meatballs with focaccia bread, and the flatbread with marinara and spicy hummus. The hummus was quite spicy for me (I'm a lightweight when it comes to spicy foods) but it was very tasty. The flatbread was nice large pieces of crispy goodness. The meatballs were to die for!!! I mean, I've only had really good homemade meatballs in a 4-5 star restaurant so this appetizer you can't pass up when dining here. The focaccia bread was fresh, warm and pillowy soft with great flavor. We moved on to an old favorite standard, a large pepperoni pizza. The pizza is Sicilian style with a light, soft crust loaded with that wonderful marinara, mozzarella cheese, and thin sliced pepperoni. We had the nicest and most attentive server and sadly I can't remember her name. We were dining with 3 kids and 2 adults and our server was just as attentive to the kids as she was with the adults. This is definitely a local favorite weekend spot so getting there early or arrive in-between lunch and dinner (we arrived around 4 and had a 5 minute wait for the front round booth. The restaurant has 2 large tables which seat 6-8 people, a front round booth which seated the 5 of us comfortably, and a bar with 5-6 chairs. They also have a patio which has several smaller tables. They also have a smoker where they smoke various meats. Please be patient when dining here as everything is made to order and is stated on their menu. Believe me, it's well worth the wait! When we left at around 5:30pm the complete restaurant was at capacity and seating outside was full as well so if you go, please go early. I'll definitely make the 3 hr drive to enjoy the beautiful beach of New Smyrna Beach and end my evening with delicious...
Read moreI really don’t like to give mediocre or bad reviews to my local places and I have been to this place many times, mostly for take out. Tonight, I decided to dine in. The positives: Sophia is amazing and the only reason this place isn’t getting a lower star review. She was not my server, but was super attentive to our needs and has a great attitude and super professional. I may give this place another try just based on how great she was. They also play great music and carry local craft beer. The negatives: my server was less than adequate. He recommended options based on my dietary needs and gave personal reasons for understanding, yet despite that he put on the order a drizzle for the pizza that was not on the menu, it was not discussed and it was obviously against the dietary issue we previously covered. So after patiently waiting over an hour for the pizza to come out which I understand when you order pizza on a busy day, the pizza was incorrect, made with the unacceptable topping. That was frustrating, but mistakes happen. The pizza was remade and brought to the table and was mediocre with some pieces having minimal toppings while others were packed with toppings and one piece had no toppings at all. I did not mention it, I was hungry and ready to eat and leave after being there at this point for almost 2 hours. Check came, he comped half of the drinks (2) and when asked to take off the incorrect topping that he charged extra for, he said okay, but did not and ran my card anyway also giving the cold shoulder at this point. Super unpleasant experience. Own your mistakes, make it right, and...
Read moreFirst time we went there and when they brought the bread sticks and sauce, I thought this place is going to be OK. The table next to us then got their pizza on a cookie sheet...pizza on a cookie sheet, I knew it was over. I ordered the "meat" pizza and when it arrived at the table it looked like hamburger helper put on dough, and not surprisingly, it tasted that way too. I asked the waitress if there was any sauce on this pizza and she said very little...like none. The sausage was so mild it was ground beef, the pepperoni is literally an after thought and not cooked and yes, I asked if I had the right pizza and if the pepperoni is always placed on the pizza right before they carry it out, and yes, the answer was yes.
So after eating one square (can't say slice because its in a cookie sheet) the waitress asked if everything is OK...no, this is not a pizza and defiantly not a meat pizza. Three more times I was asked the same question and I really wanted to say your "pizza" is terrible, but did not and continued to state this is not good.
This business looks like they are trying to put a twist on pizza, and good for them. However, if I order a chicken, basil balsamic vinegar pizza, then bring that crap. If I order a meet pizza, put some sauce on it, mozzarella cheese and some Italian meats.
They never made an attempt to correct the issue and couldn't get us out of there faster. I would never...
